Postby MUTU » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:20 pm

According to news originating from kicker, FC Bayern are after Bayer Leverkusen's young German goalkeeper Fabian Giefer as a replacement for Butt who will retire at the end of the season. Giefer, who is 1.96m tall turns 22 years old this year.

This season, Giefer played only one match for the first team, the first Bundesliga match of the season, a 2-0 loss away to Mainz during which he was concussed, stating he didn’t remember anything from the previous month.

Can't really see someone so young wasting his time sitting behind Neuer...

Well, he is wasting his time behind Leno, so why not at Bayern where he would have the chance to play in some big match?

Leno wasn't bought in for nearly 25 million euros.

He is rubbish. The only game he played against Mainz he gifted Mainz the goal.

Exactly, and I also can't see Bayern moving in for him. He doesn't sound... promising, even for a backup.

Bayern would rather play Sattelmaier or buy someone like Trapp(unlikely),Baumann(if freiburg get relegated), Rensing(also unlikely) over Giefer. Sattelmaier looks the best option.
Emre CAN do it.

TBH I've never seen this guy in action, so I will abstain from judging.

Can anyone kindly translate what there is written here? There is a quote by his agent Tobias Sander that neither I nor Google Translate can understand well:

Heynckes knows him from his time in Leverkusen, so it is possible that he may have seen promise in him.

Also the above report mentions that Fortuna Duesseldorf are interested. Furthermore, this report claims that Tottenham Hotspur are also in the running.

I don't know about the text, but given the direction that ball seems to have the picture translates into one thing: OUCH!

I don't know how this fits in but Bayern called up their 19 year old giant 6'9 keeper Daniel Muller to training and all the coaches were impressed by him, the reports indicate he may be the third choice for Bayern and he is very talented good enough to compete with Neuer and be the no.2 for 'the time being'!
