Perfectly fine... But overpaying for di Maria won't make overpaying for Costa any better... :P

Sterling and a young prospect would have made more sense for that amount of money... (we're talking close to 100m here!)

I - and this is just me - have high douts about Costa, and some about di Maria... So then we're stuck with two players that are not an ideal fit and we paid a lot o money for and probably won't sign any good wingers in the years to come... Just seems so... wasteful and overhasty...

Who is Christian Falk? :D

You must be new to football if you predict what is going to happen in YEARS....
Ever thought about Sterling not wanting to join the Bundesliga ?

And Christian Falk is a reporter of SportBILD.

Eventhough nothing official, this is still funny:

Here's hoping that Costa is more like a 15-20 million Euro deal. Where would we begin to speculate on Di Maria... 50 million euro? 60?

I would take Costa over Sterling. Sterling is nowhere near Bayern-level nor like to be.

Costa and Di Maria for reasonable money would not be bad. However I know with Di Maria my man Basti would have to go so I don't know what to think :(

I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to... Still, I can probably think of a dozen players that are better than Costa, some of them even playing at Shaktar... ;)

And Costa is? The guy who plays in Ukrainian league, is four years older and still has worse stats? ;)

No transfer would be a guarantee... But at the moment Sterling is the best player available... Runners up are probably di Maria and Griezmann... Then there'sa lot of space, then many many others, then more space, and THEN Costa... :P
I think every other Bundesliga winger would've been a better choice...

But hey, you're free to rub it in my face if the guy turns out to be half decent... I highly doubt it though ;)

This isn't my favorite transfer, but in Costa's defense, he doesn't seem to be a stats type of player, rather more of a dribbling, space creator type. If you have Lewandowski, Müller, Robben, Thiago, Götze, and Ribéry in your team, you don't need another goal scorer or assist provider, what you need is a guy who opens up the field. Costa, based on what little I've seen from him at least, can do that.

The problem is, we got the treble with these guys:

GK: best in the world
RB: best in the world
LB: one of the top 5
CB: Boateng one of th top 5, Dante still very reliable and efficient
Double pivot: best duo in the world
CM/AM: Kroos one of the best in the world
LW: one of the 2-3 best
RW: best on the world
striker: Mandzukic. Not the best ever but very good

Going forward to 2015

Neuer is still the best
Boateng stepped up his game
Dante .. No comment. Benatia is worse than the 2013 Dante anyway
RB: he plays in midfield. Replaced by an average Rafinha
LB: Alaba in midfield. Bernat is a great guy and a great LB, but he is not in the top 5.
The world's best DM was pushed back. Kroos was replaced by Alonso, who is 9 years older and much more of a DM. Schweinsteiger got older and injuries started. Lahm is our reliable captain but he isn't exactly a top midfielder. Thiago was a nice addition, when fit.
Robben, when fit, is still the exciting spark we need. Muller is Muller. The Gotze project failed. Ribery had the injuries problem, but even when fit, he wasn't close to his 2013 level. Lewandowski is not a clinical finisher, but he is, in many other ways, an upgrade to Mandzukic so no complaints there.

And let's leave out the coach comparisons.

Well, if Kondogbia is €40m and Firmino €41m, I say we just about made a bargain in relative terms.

I'm not buying the 35 million. Everyone is just citing Ortlepp, who - as I wrote earlier - seems to have pulled that figure out of his ass.

80 is what they paid for the guy last year. It won't be 50, they don't want to sell the guy. You can't even get Griezmann for 50. The market has changed. If you want big players, you spend big. If not, you buy Costa for 35. (if the number is true). I don't know the guy so I can't comment on the price tag, all I know is he plays for Brazil in Copa America.

Manchester United recently had a 110m bid for Bale rejected by Real. Go figure.
