Signing another winger would mean Gotze could
**** stop being forced to play as a winger!

Just because they pay 35m he has to be worth it? What kind of logic is that?

This is a player that has never SEEN a real Defender - let alone his legs - in his life(yes, I know I'm exaggerating...)! He is almost 25 years old now and has never performed outstandingly - while playing in a league barely better than the one FCB II plays in...

And I didn't really trust the board before... NOW, I'm starting to question their sanity...

This is supposd to be the player who helps us not to go out of a match in Camp Nou without a single f*cking attempt? Well, good look...

I'd rather they had signed Firminho for 45... At least that's a player with some talent and decent stats... And way younger...

Then go to another forum and start bitching there.
If you dont trust the board for transfer policy, why are you even here discussing???

Ribery was 24 when he arrived.

You are just hating, hater.

Ukrainian league barely better than Regionalliga? Well, you guy don't know then anything about European football.

I think he could be a great addition to the team but I'm not sure it is right decision to spend that amount of money to buy him. Is he ready to make decisive runs in UCL when the team needs individual skills to break through.

Ukrainian league is the 8th strongest league in europe. Dnipro made it to this year EL final... Shaktar always does well and also D.Kiev

Yeah, but Ribery was first-team world cup finalist who shined in the tournament when we got him. At that time you could already see that the guy would be a star.

Maybe you couldn't predict he would become a top 3 player in the world, but you could certainly say he was special. Don't get me wrong, never seen this guy, but his CV hardly screams next-Ribery at you. He can't even get on Brazil's worst squad ever...

I am excited and yes he seem to underperform last season but look at James at Real Madrid, at Monaco he wasn't great but the talent was there and now for the season he has 20 goals and 20 assist...so I am not worried ...great players bring out the best in talented players and I think this will be the case.

Those two matches against Bayern shouldn't be a factor in deciding his abilities. The way Shaktar played, not even Messi would've done anything.
His performance beyond that, on the other hand, should be questionable. He's good for Shakhtar, but not as exponential as Mkhitaryan was when he still played there. He seldom makes it to Brazil's squad, a squad which will probably be remembered as the weakest in Brazil's post 90s histories, maybe even beyond that.
And he should be judged by his recent and past comrades as well. Willian turned out to be a flop. He was thought an impressive player too. Elano turned out to be a flop. He was thought an impressive player too. Mkhitaryan turned out to be a flop. He was thought an impressive player too. Chygrynski turned out to be a flop. Same it was for him. Fernandinho's up there with them as well. There is a pattern.

The players leaving Shaktar are nowhere near as dependable and skilled as those leaving Porto, for example.

I do not mind buying a winger as long as Pep starts using the wings

You judge a player by two moments of two different matches? You do know Guardiola doesn't ask for glimpses of excellence, but for 90 minutes of consistent devotion, right?

I'm actually wondering if #12 was just trolling, but I took the assumption he's not.

#12 wrote:Just because they pay 35m he has to be worth it? What kind of logic is that?

Correct, that logic is a fail. But where did anyone say that?

The player has 8 international caps and has featured in 34 Champions League matches, including against Bayern. Do Bayern have any real defenders?

Just... no comment.

Yes.

If you've really watched Firmino enough you'd know he's not Firminho but Firmino.
