If you say guys than I'm relieved. I dont find it anymore on Bayern & Germany about the option. He was responding to a question about Costa deal, but it was not put as statement on the account. Maybe he is wrong if so many other sources says that it is a obligation. Dont judge me wrong, I dont have any right to judget Costas qualities but in the las decade I havent saw a horrible character than him in our squad. In the winter he started to make fuss about his playing time, posible other destination and wages, but I was really disgusted by what I saw in the return leg in Madrid. He didn't even make some effort or run with determination after the ball. What does this boy think, that he speaks about Ballon D'Or or something like this after at 25 years he was playing in Russia. Neymar or Gabriel Jesus can speak about ballon d'or but not him. I hope I never see him in Munich. Never.

His social media posts suggest so as well. It doesn't look like he thinks he'll come back.

It was confirmed by Bayerns website, it's an option not a obligation #-o

"

Representatives of FC Bayern München and Juventus have agreed terms for the transfer of Douglas Costa. The 26-year-old, who has made 21 senior appearances for Brazil, joins Juventus on loan for one year. The Italian record champions may then exercise an option to make the move permanent on 1 July 2018.

"We had serious and constructive talks with Juventus' representatives. All of FC Bayern's financial demands have been met," declared chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

After moving to Munich from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015, Costa made 77 competitive appearances for FC Bayern, scoring 14 and setting up 27 goals. He won two German championship titles, the DFB Cup and the DFL Supercup in his spell with the German record champions.

"I'd like to thank Douglas for his performances. After two successful years and four titles it was his big wish to take on a new challenge," said Rummenigge: "We granted his request, and we wish him and his family all the best for the future in Italy."

Well, lets just hope he has another breakout first season and we can part ways for good. No ill will at this point, but if Brandt comes next season we will be stacked in the attacking midfield/wings

You can't compare Benatia who cost €17M (and €3M/years wages after taxes )and according to some Juventus fans, did a good season despite injuries ... with Douglas Costa who would cost €40M (and €6M/years wages after taxes).

Well,i can say my Juve friends are excited like we're excited for James now.Believe me.
Douglas is not going to come back, you should be sure for that.
Basically Juve spread the payment over three years; 6, 20, 20. Spreading payments is somewhat beneficial now days - even for Bayern.
Bayern probably raised the price by some percentages (functioning as an interest fee). We don't know how much that is, but that is definitely Bayerns gain.
Juventu's gain is, that they can spread the payment over 3 years and operate within the limitations of FFP. Not only that, but they also get to keep the majority of the transfer sum in the bank account and accumulate some interest for 2 years.
