That kind of reminds me of what many people were saying this time last year about Gomez...

I agree with what Mr. S said, and even if it weren't true, what have Olic and Petersen done more than him this season? Even last season Olic didn't do much. Remember Klose and Olic at the beginning of the season for about 8 games? They were our only two strikers who were even considered by the coach and they didn't score a single goal between them. It was only when there was no other choice that Gomez was given the chance to become our saviour.

Dimitar Berbatov

Postby American » Tue Jan 17, 2012 7:22 pm

Good Day,

I am a fairly new Bayern Munich fan and find the recent rumors regarding Dimitar Berbatov as a transfer target this window quite interesting. What purpose would he serve? The same that he does for ManU? He is basically the 4th striker chosen by sir Alex. I will admit he has been a pretty sure fire goal scorer when he does come on or start but I don't know what he offers Munich. His price tag is probably something like 8 million. Maybe the rumors really have no ground in fact or potential fact but this is just such an odd move, in my opinion. Obviously Munich look good up front as Gomez as been in great form recently before the winter lay off. Depth for Champions League play is smart but this is excessive.

He would be second choice striker after Gomez, or possibly third choice depending on what is going to happen with Olic. Definitely no one will be coming here to replace Gomez right now

Also, for next time, we already have a topic for Berbatov: transfers-f1/dimitar-berbatov-t2658-120.html :)

Once again, welcome :D

He's CL ineligible so that's a useless transfer!

I wasn't thinking about him being tied for CL, good point. Makes even less sense with that information. In my mind it would make more sense to move Muller up to striker and resolve his position another way than bring in Berbatov in the absence of Gomez.

Dimitar Berbatov

He scores goals really efficiently but he also doesn't get a ton of chances to score those goals. He may move to Leverkusen(sp)

Wait a sec. That is unfair. We are talking about Berbaexgol here; STRIKER Bervatov. Olic for whatever reason only played 11 matches for Club and Country. Only 4 of those, FOUR, were as a striker; again, for C&C. He scored one in four AS A STRIKER. If you want to be extremely fair, he came in for FOUR minutes on the last one; so is really ONE GOAL in THREE GAMES (that would be 3) as a striker.

Doesn't look like this transfer is going to happen, so not much point in discussing it further. I still believe that he would be a good backup choice though.

I wished there was an 'N' at the END of one of this words:

So now the question is: if Berbatov was on a flight to Germany, what was he doing? And if he wasn't on a flight to Germany, why didn't he or Man Utd deny it?

Berbatov gets the green light to leave Manchester United. tz is linking him to us once again and says he could be the 'bomb' signing.
