He has a high salary. I don't think our board is thinking of him because we need to build a new defense.
Not gonna happen (altough I'd like it)

Yes, the salary is the main issue. That, and the fact that he might now want to start every game (which could be a bit hard with our lineup).

However, if he settles for a lower salary and accepts sitting on the bench (unlikely) it would be great for us. Like Xabi said, we would have Gomez, Olic, probably Petersen, possibly Klose, Ribery, Robben, Muller, Kroos and Diego. If you ask me that's the strongest offensive selection in Europe.

If Wolfsburg go down though, we can get him for under 10m euro IMO, Bargain

it would be great if we get him for less than 10m but i think his best system is 4-3-1-2 and not 4-2-3-1 ; still prefer elia

Diego is a playmaker and elia is a winger so both are different types of players. Both have been very disappointing this season.

Diego has completely fallen out with Felix Magath and I won't be surprised to see him on the transfer list despite Wolfsburg escaping relegation.

ESPN Soccernet wrote:Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath is considering all disciplinary options against Diego after the Brazilian midfielder stormed out of a team meeting ahead of Saturday's crunch game with Hoffenheim.

Diego left the team's hotel after learning he would only be on the bench for the match and did not make contact with any Wolfsburg officials until reporting for training on Sunday. Magath said his behaviour was not only unacceptable, but may also warrant legal action.

"I have never known anybody to leave the team meeting before,'' said Magath. "We will have to see what legal implications it may have - that is up to our solicitors. We will have to ensure that we solve the problem correctly with the help of UEFA and FIFA. Anything is possible.''

It appears as though Diego, who joined the Wolves last summer for over €15 million, has played his last game for a club who only avoided relegation to the second division with victory in his absence.

Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer has already had his say on the matter, telling Sky television: "I find it disrespectful to leave the team in such a situation. That is not on; it is a sign of a bad character. I cannot imagine Diego having any kind of future under Magath.''

Despite the distraction of Diego's antics, there was nevertheless joy and relief for the 2009 champions with their 3-1 win sealing their Bundesliga status.

"We are delighted and relieved,'' said Magath "It was an incredibly stressful 90 minutes. We started well, but then we eased off and only when we fell behind and were practically in the second division did the team show a different face.

"I was certainly tense and I have never experienced a finale like it.''

Of course, with an attitude like this, managers will now think twice before signing him.

I read about this yesterday but it was a lousy translation. Apparently it was not only a matter of the guy doing a Luca Toni on the team but also they were counting with only 17 guys or something like that. This on a game meant for certain relegation given Gladbach's recent form. If I was Maggath, I'll grab my black sunshades, a couple of torture tools, and do an 'I'll be back' on this guys ass... That before I summon every lawyer in VW to sue this guy to Neverland.

What a childish prima donna thing to do. Has it said anywhere why he was going to be benched to begin with?

of course they won't punish Diego too harshly, they want to believe he can do for them what he did for Werder -- but this player has lost his touch since moving from Werder. It seems no other coach besides Schaaf can get the best out of him, and I definitely don't want him at Bayern.

Diego is on a slippery slope right now and I really don't think that Bayern are interested in that type of player!
