Demba Ba

Postby Mr.S » Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:25 am

Newcastle striker Demba Ba has a release clause in his contract which means he is available for under £7 million, according to Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.

Ba has been attracting interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs having scored a sensational 15 goals in the first half of the season at the Sports Direct Arena.

Toon boss Alan Pardew insists potential suitors will have to pay big money to lure away any of his key players, but Redknapp has now claimed Ba has a release clause which would allow him to depart at a fraction of his true worth, widely estimated to be around £15m.

When initially asked if the clause was set around the £10m mark, Redknapp replied: “I think you will find it is a lot less than that.”

Asked if was as little as £7m, the Spurs boss added: “Even less than that.”

Redknapp would not reveal whether Spurs want to bring in Ba as they look to bolster a strikeforce which could be depleted by the possible departures of Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe in January.

The north Londoners may, however, be forced into the market for a defender, after Redknapp revealed club captain Ledley King faces another significant spell on the sidelines after tearing his hamstring in training.

"Ledley did his hamstring in training on Friday," the Spurs boss told reporters.

"He came out, had an easy jog and it went. The only options I have got are [Michael] Dawson, [Sebastien] Bassong and [Younes] Kaboul. There is no-one else."

Could be a fantastic signing. No alleged signs of interest. Could come for as cheap as 5-6 Million Euros. It is rumoured to be around 5-6 Million Pounds which means 6 or 7 Million Euros or slightly less.

A bargain, more of a steal,I dont think he gets more than 0.5-1 Million per year,we can easily give him 2-2.5 Million per year salary & he can be a Gomez back-up. Fantastic back-up guy.

Edit - He's available for 5 million pounds(rumoured),that's 6.05 Million Euros. Huge steal.

Demba Ba is playing too good to accept a bench role here. No chance. I've seen him play for Newcastle a lot this season, and he just can't stop scoring.

Where would he get a starting role??? IN LFC displacing Suarez or in City displacing Aguero,Dzeko & balotelli or in United displacing Rooney,Berbatov & Hernandez or displacing RVP in Arsenal. Apart from Chelsea & maybe Spurs & maybe maybe LFC I don't see him starting anywhere.

Besides footballers are human. They earn, they have to pay for fuel, drinks & clothes. It's all about money. Ba earns peanuts in New-Castle,I dont think he earns more than 0.5-0.7 Million per year,he was a nobody last season. We can give him a 3 Million salary which will be a huge increase. Then he can play Champions League football every season & promise him say 10-15 games(he is good enough to play for the dead rubbers in CHL,Pokal & against low placed BL teams).

Fairly decent chance. There is no competition for Gomez now. In Football injuries & suspensions also happen.

If he can't get a starting role at a top club, he'll get a starting role in a good, but not top club. He could probably start for Dortmund.

Besides, without any rumours linking us to a player, we shouldn't really be opening transfer threads. Or were we linked to him at some point?

Hoeness said we'd get a star striker, one who'd play for Barcelona and Manchester United, and I'm not sure if Demba Ba is one.

I think he is one. Would Dzeko start or would Berba???

Which top striker is available for under 10-15 Million bearing in mind we also will buy a CB,probably a winger & pay Usami's release clause.

Yeah, it sure is unlikely for him to be bought by three clubs in desperate need for a striker!

Let's not forget. There are plenty of strikers in the market & ba might not start as they all have atleast 1 decent striker.

Who knows if Chelsea or Liverpool get someone else. 6 Million is hell a lot cheaper than Cisse's 12-15 Million price & he's probably better.

Ba is apparently on £40k a week at Newcastle. Which is £2.08m a year. That's peanuts in England. So he'll be after for more than that, at least £60k I'd imagine (£3.12m a year).

He's not worth that.

He's got a ticking time-bomb of a bad knee to deal with, and Newcastle took a gamble in buying him (which looks to be paying off), hence why he has such a low release clause value.

Newcastle is quite good club for him...I dont see him going anywhere else in next few months. He knows he will play as a sub if he joins any other top club.

Hard to imagine Ba coming back to Germany after the way he left, he has his heart set on England.

Plus leaving now would be his 4th move since last January, I highly doubt he will go anywhere
