Alaba will take the position of Gustavo

Alaba will play a lot in Hoffenheim. This is a great move.

Great opportunity for Alaba to get some consistent playing time and we got Gustavo as part of the deal. Good job by Nerlinger on both sides of this.

It's basically a great move for all involved parties... my only concern is that with the new manager in Hoffenheim, will Alaba get enough playing time there or not?...
One positive fact is that Hoffe's new coach is Rangnick's assistant and a former u15-to-u18 Germany coach... So I guess he'll be as good with youngsters and their whole coaching philosophy won't change much... let's hope for the best... :)

Why only half a year though ? Seems like a short time for him to adapt and establish himself at the club, but maybe the loan spell will get extended after the season. In general, good move for all three sides - Bayern, Hoffenheim and Alaba himself.

I guess this is because we don't know what will happen during summer (probably many departures in midfield - MVB, Altintop maybe Tymo or Pranjic)...

Even if a lot of guys leave in summer Alaba should stay at Hoffenheim. We are still going to have Kroos, Schweini, Gustavo, and Tymoschuk in midfield. Alaba will be the odd man out. We should extend the loan until the end of next season.

But we usually play with 2 or 3 central midfielders. So we need back ups. At least 2.

you are right but I dont think forcing young Alaba to sit on the bench is good for him and for us in the future.

We can always have someone like Ottl to be a sub while giving Alaba his playing time in team like Hoffenheim.

This loan is ideal for us because Hoffenheim tend to play attacking football...better that he is at Hoffenheim than some Koln.

All of our loans should be in teams like Hoffenheim, Leverkusen or even Werder...their work with youngsters is great and they play attacking football.
