Somehow I feel that this move is more intended to weaken Borussia M'gladbach rather than strengthen our defence.

Gladbach will collapse next season anyway regardless of what we do. Favre will have another Hertha moment.

Release clause is playing a big part here too. They figured getting a CB for ~5 mil without asking for any favors back is a good deal IMO.

Dante had a very good match were he won almost every challenge.
If he does come I think he won't be a regular but just a cover for Bad / Boateng. Such as is Santana
for Hummels - Subotic.
IMO Howedes is a better option for our defense

Late in the match there was a stat on him on the channel I was watching and he had won 100% of tackles.

To have three or four top CB's would be fantastic, and there could be no issue with rotating them if need be. Boateng and Badstuber are clearly our first choice pairing, and have been exceptional. So it would take an even more exceptional player to split them up, and even though how well Dante does, I don't see it being him.

I wouldn't say clearly. We have to see what happens when Daniel van Buyten is back from injury. He was a first team player before his injury and was having arguably one of his best seasons at FC Bayern. I think most of us miss his presence when there is a corner in our favour...

I think if we get Dante and Van Buyten gets back his form, we'll have four excellent CBs which will be more than enough for next season. We can let Breno go to jail

Breno ended up being one of the worst transfers for Bayern. Wasted money, space and time. Its definitely time to forget salvaging him. I would rather have Dante.
