German media are often bad when it's about foreign players and quick deal.

They never were the first to now for Sanches Vidal ..

I really don't know why you would include Kimmich and Alaba into the equation when they're clearly set in a different position.
Wasn't it you who kept talking about not weakening 2 positions at the same time when discussing the possibility of Alexis + a CF back-up?
And Gaudino, really?

We will still have 10 alternatives for 2-3 places. It's equivalent to us buying 3 backup strikers for Lewandowski this summer.

German media knows nothing these days.
Last one they reported first was Douglas Costa if I remember correctly

:-k

How'd you go from nine alternatives, have two/three of the nine questioned, and end up with ten?

And it's far from equivalent to your backup striker scenario. Those aren't nine identical central midfielders. I've personally never witnessed Müller play as a 6 or an 8. I maybe saw Martinez play as a 10 once or twice in the days of Pep. If we want to pretend there is an equivalency, then we can go back to pretending that we have a backup for Lewandowski in Thomas Müller.

We only have 3 midfielders: Thiago, Vidal and Sanches. Not enough.

@Ramsej ?

Interesting thoughts.

I only see Vidal and Thiago as Champions League level midfielders.

Martinez - would be great if he played midfield like 2013 again, but always injured, has been CB for years
Muller - definitely not a midfielder, a forward
Sanches - not a CL level midfielder yet, not ready to be starting, could use a loan IMO
Kimmich - Ancelloti, KHR, Uli, everyone important at the club has said he will be playing RB
Rudy - backup midfielder, we do not want to be starting Rudy in important matches unless we have injuries, good backup though
Alaba - LB and CB for Bayern for the past years, has not played CM with any regularity in recent times
Gaudino - has very little chance to play at Bayern, couldn't even solidify a starting XI spot at St. Gallen

Players like Tolisso give Ancelotti a lot of tactical flexibility. If Bayern lined up in a 4-3-3 I think it would look like this, but all 3 midfielders could interchange at any time during the 90 minutes and make runs, cover for each other, and interchange rather than during 16/17 where only Xabi sat in front of the CBs the entire match.

----------Lewa
LW------------------Robben
-----Tolisso--Vidal
---------Thiago
Alaba-Hum-Boa-Kimmich
----------Neuer

4-2-3-1
-----------Lewa
LW---Muller(Tolisso)---Robben
----Thiago--Vidal(Tolisso)
Alaba--Hum--Boa--Kimmich
-----------Neuer

Plus all kinds of variations with 3 CBs now that Boateng, Hummels, Sule, and Martinez are all at Bayern.

I don't really know the guy. What's his role in the midfield exactly?

He's box-to-box and happens to be the most prolific goal-scorer among midfielders in Europe.

Nice. I watched some snippets but I tend to value the opinions more than these videos abundant on youtube. The latter tend to portray players in favorable situations, and I am more interested in knowing them in unfavorable situations. :)

Probably included some of Benko, Dorsch, Lahm, Neuer and Berni into that list

Agreed - cause Verrati is comparably old but better by a mile already - and we all know it...
And we all knew, what a player Robben was...
The only coaches transfer of a relatively unknown player here that was a real success is Thiago - and he was also WAYYY less of a blank piece of paper back then...
