It says final attempt. That doesn't make sense, so we tried before and couldn't get him? The board made it sound like Alex was second choice to Boateng. He only costs like €10 mill -- unless Bayern want him but would rather get him for like €5 mill. With Juve also interested I wonder if we are thrown in the rumour just because at one point we were interested, to beef up interest from other clubs. Either way if this was actually serious then Bayern should actually try and get him -- but I think Nerlinger will come out and say how we are fine until another defensive crisis happens.

Mysteriously comes up right after we hear "we are done". I'll bet they have a better offer for Breno (from Brazil?) and can now afford to up the offering price for Alex.

If a team with no money like Juve out bids us for him then I've lost a lot of faith in our board. [-X

I think it is BS, our management has made it clear that we are done with transfers. However, it is possible if we got a late offer for DVB or Breno. I don't think so though

FCBayernMunchen has pointed out on the generic transfer thread that Chelsea's coach Villas-Boas has accepted a transfer request from Alex. I'd like us to get him in winter, even though he's cup tied in the Champions League.

Alex, yes. Anelka, no.

It's the only transfer which one could go possibly through because when Boateng is in the right we have still only two good central defenders - Van Buyten and Badstuber.

We were genuinely interested in him last summer, so now that he's available it could happen. The board seems satisfied with the current choice of CBs though

And for this reason Alex will not come to Bayern.

He will not go from sitting on the bench at Chelsea to sitting on the bench at Bayern.

Well the thing is if he could prove himself better than Van Buyten then he probably wouldnt be sitting on the bench here. I mean think about it, Van Buyten plays probably 2 out of 3 games minimum as a rotation player. So i think its less about whether Alex would want to come here and more about whether our board wants to get him.

No point in buying Alex if we can't use him in the CL.
