It's about spending ADEQUATELY for talented players... We got Gnabry for 10m - that's about adequate: might help you a little in BuLi, useless as a CL competitor...
Players like Sané or Bernardo are not too overpriced in the 50m range... 222m (plus wages) is wayy too much for a player even as good as Neymar... But some people need to see there's another level between cheaping out and overspending on crap... (Plus: you can also overspend on talent: see Neymar or Pogba on that...) That's just how it is...

Ah yes please tell me more about there amazingly difficult Cup run playing the best teams in Europe

They didn't... Neither did we manage to beat those in at least half the cases since 2013

Obsolete is something else... They will be (even) stronger again...

To be honest there squad is marginally better and I can honestly say after watching them plenty of times last season they are half a decade behind Bayern. Also it doesn't help they are in a very competitive league so it will stifle them even more...[/quote]

Maybe... They still make tons of money, and are able to keep up with a few signings... I wouldn't say they could easily beat us... But it's not an opponent where I'd be overconfident we would overcome them in 2 matches...

I don't want to spend on overrated players..but we could spend them wisely..
If we can spend 42 million on Tolisso..then why can't we spend 50 million on sane?
Also the biggest mistake of this decade....not spending 70 million on de bruyne.
tolisso+gnabry+10 million=de bruyne..a no brainer for me on which one is better..

2017/18 Generic Transfer Thread

Postby #12 » Sun Aug 06, 2017 3:24 pm

I'm not crying over deBruyne so much... 71m is too much for him IMHO... But Sané was not a steal, but a valuable player at an about adequate price... If you can spend 40m for Götze and then let him leave to a direct competitor for less than 30, you can also spend 50 on Sané...
Or Bernardo for that matter... These players ARE expensive... But they are unlikely to decrease in value...

Still have a hard time understanding why €50m for Sane is a good deal but €12.5m for Brandt is average, overrated, fodder, whatever when he's always been better than Sane in virtually every regard

Debatable...

Also, I didn't say "good deal" - the question is: do you want to make deals, or do you want to have a successful sports team?

12.5m is a reasonable price, yes... But Sané is a player in high demand while no one except us wants Brandt

I've said it countless times: getting him for 12.5 m is fine by me... Just not as a starter, as THE starter... He doesn't fit our game, he's overrated here IMHO (kinda like Draxler), he's got less potential IMHO, and most importantly: our offense needs pace, not yet another Müller whom our stupid coaches don't even play...

So now we're into getting 'BVB' players BEFORE they join BVB. Cutting out the middleman

Oh no wasn't mad at all- did it sound like I was?
Was just saying that because I said my first choice would be the Monaco guy... They're probably more or less equally good...

The Monaco guy isn't in Monaco for a year. He is in Lille and his name is Luis Campos. He made Mendy, Sidibé, Glik, Lemar, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho ..

And the guy who replace him was the former Villarreal sporting director ... and already left Monaco.
For good football : Neuer - Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Alaba - Vidal (Tolisso), Thiago (Rudy) - Robben, Müller (James), James (Ribéry) - Lewandowski

For boring football : 4-3-3
