selling him at this point would be plain ol' stupid

2 years, but yeah.

I don't want to sell Sanchez, but I do believe he needs to play much more to develop. With Tolisso, James, Rudy and Javi (now that Sule can back up at CB) we have enough player to play alongside Vidal and Thiago. Renato needs to go on a loan and I think Hoffenheim can be a great place for him.

BAYERN needs a back up striker - something like Alexis - a player, who will play a number of games as a winger and will be a back up striker when needed. If the management decides that the club will not throw much money into such a transfer, it would be better for us to buy a back up striker (for 10-15 mio), who will be a bench warmer and will play in easier games just to rest Lewandowski.
So:
1. Very expensive starter (a winger like Alexis), who can cover the striker position too; or
2. Cheap striker, who will play only the unimportant games when Lewandowski needs rest.

There is no point in buying a world class striker for ten of millions, who will be a bench warmer.

P.S. That's the case if Bayern plays with ONE striker. If we play with two strikers, it is very important that we buy another world class striker.

Well, wouldn't mind Alexis, but only if it is forseeable that Robben will play less than 20% of the games this year.

Niklas Bendtner is who we need as our back up striker. It's just a risk that he will displace Lewandowski as our number 1 striker.

Can we expect another "granate" signing? I mean - not a back-up striker or whatever, but an world class one, one who can easily start in the first 11...

Considering that we paid (or will pay) James with the Costa money - I'm surely still hoping that Alexis or someone with a WC caliber comes. Now THAT would be the best transfer period ever in Bayern.
Wenger had a pretty downplaying interview considering Alexis, maybe they wont really sell him before the contract expires.

With the likes of Süle, Tolisso, and James, already here I wouldn't expect any more "grand" signings this season even the back up striker people seem desperate to get....

I also wouldn't mind Alexis next year as a free transfer when Robben & Ribéry leave.
But he would probably join City then.

--------------- Lewandowski
------------- Alexis ---- James
--------Tolisso -- Thiago -- Vidal
Alaba --- Hummels -- Boateng --- Kimmich
-------------------- Neuer

-------------------- Müller
------------- Coman ---- Robben
---------- Ribéry -- Rudy -- Sanches
Bernat --------- Javi -- Süle ------ Rafinha
-------------------- Ulreich

Overkill if you ask me.

Ancelotti played in 4-3-2-1 because he had many #8 and #10. That was the reason he played 5 of Ambrosini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf, Kaka, Rui Costa together.

In Bayern we have too much wide player to play 4-3-2-1.

Ancelotti himself said it in his book I read. You make a system according to the players you have. Not the opposite.
We'll play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.
Bayern 3-3-3-1 build-up under Heynckes :
Neuer - Boateng Hummels Thiago - Kimmich Vidal Alaba - Robben Müller James - Lewandowski
Neuer- Boateng Vidal Hummels- Kimmich Martinez Alaba- Robben James Ribéry- Lewandowski

We literally only have three wide players :?
4312 or 4321 would fit us way better.
Just compare us to the milan of 2005.

----------------------- Lewandowski/Crespo
------------ James/Kaká ---------------- Robben/Shevchenko
------ Tolisso/Seedorf - Thiago/Pirlo - Vidal/Gattuso

Now that resemblance is pretty striking to me. Pair it with the fact that Ribéry mostly played a lot more centrally this season it would all make sense.

But we don't have enough quality wide players for a 4231 either. 4312 makes the most sense because we have lots of Midfielders and no quality wingers. We need another striker probably.
