2017/18 Generic Transfer Thread

JANCKER wrote:PunkCapitalist :-k IIRC you didn't rate KDB this much before...

We didn't have space for him, if we had to get him, we had to get rid of Goetze first which wasn't that easy... anyway, I remember someone posting a quote from KDB where he said that he didn't like living in Germany that much. There are different factors, not just money...

True... But hey... he lives in MANCHESTER now... I mean seriously, every pile of manure on top of another pile of manure in Germany is by far more appealing...

I think Bayern are good in midfield with Thiago, Vidal, Goretzka, Martinez, Tolisso and Rudy
CBs = Hummels, Boateng, Sule and maybe Gotze
RB= Kimmich. Think Rafinha is going back to Brasil so might need a backup RB or Rudy could do that job.
LB= Alaba and Bernat
CF = Robert and Wagner
Attacking Mid/Second striker= Thomas and James

The wings is where Bayern need genuine reinforcements. Ribery has to go this summer or accept a bench/sub role if he signs a new contract. If Ribery leaves we would then have Robben (who I believe should be given a one year extension), Coman and Gnabry for the wings with Thomas too who can play there. Pulisic should be our target, but that’s for 2019.

So a winger and Back up RB are possibly the only places Bayern need to spend this summer.

EDIT: if we cannot get Pulisic then I don’t know who to buy as the plan B winger. Draxler? Bailey? Brandt? Bale?

Ribery won't accept a bench role, we've seen evidence of that for two seasons now. It's time to let go of that idea...

Well then we need to let HIM go!
It's quite clear that his current level is no where near the level he had two or three (let alone four or five) seasons ago. Robben, as mentioned above, is another thing. He should get a one year extension.

Ribery seems outdated, although some might find that a bit harsh...

If we can just get 1 WC winger(-talent) this summer we should be set (that is, if we get Gnabry back from loan).

Just wondering.... Goetze apart, who was the last German wide player that Bayern signed? And no, Kimmich doesn't count, he came as a CM.

Gnabry excluded (not even a shirt number assigned) as well as Weiser for which expectations were rock bottom, I think the answer to my question is Marcell Jansen :o

For fullbacks, Marcel Jansen 07/08.

For attacking players, we signed Podolski 06/07 but he's really more of a striker so he doesn't really count. Before that, the last was Deisler 02/03.

Well, there’s a user here who has been saying that Germany's wide players have been shit for years and they accused him of being biased for it... Now, who was it again?

There’s just not a lot there... We didn’t get Sané and I wouldn’t trust Reus mowing my lawn without some serious downtime...

Yeah yeah, I know, Draxler, Brandt and Gnabry

I bet you wanted Reus at the time he moved to Dortmund. It's with hindsight you don't want him.

My point is that while Bayern are ready to trust German players in central positions even when they haven't yet made a name for themselves, they seem hell-bent on avoiding signing German wide players.

Anyway I thought of another player: Boateng. He was a full back when we signed him.

Are you serious?
The whole point of him joining us was because he DIDN'T want to play as a fullback! :lol: :lol:

The whole point of him joining us was that he preferred to play for a top club in his native country than rot on a bench in Manchester.

Yeah but we didn’t sign him as fullback - definitely!

As for Reus... Kinda... We still had Ribéry... Of course I didn’t know how he’d turn out, back then you had fo expect Ribéry would be injured more often and longer - but in the meantime it’s the other way around... But even if I did want him - it only ADDS to the argument that I am NOT biased ;)

Point remains: Kimmich is not a RB native, Sané is gone, and right now, there simply are no promising prospects in those positions...

Signing Meyer and loaning him out for a year will not be so out of Bayern’s strategy, he is young, talented and German and can play in all roles in central midfield

I wouldn't understand bayern selling lewandowski. He is the most interested on the transfer. Bayern would lose one of the best FW and we won't get one better than him. Madrid would spend ovee 100 million euro on a 30 years old.

Bayern should find the way getting werner and keep lewa
