Pastel orange box

Postby tflags » Wed Jun 08, 2011 5:24 pm

BTW, I don't have the banners any longer being a donator. Too bad, I miss those 'MEET SINGLES IN PERU' ads I was getting used to.

Do everyone have this pastel orange box on top of every thread though? I have no idea what it is...

That seems like it's where the facebook like box should be. What browser are you using please?

If you are running any extensions, disable them all (Help - restart with add-ons disabled). If it is fixed, enable them one by one until you find the culprit.

Welcome to the beautiful world of Chrome - a world which is being watched closely (and non-privately) by Google...:P
Kidding, just to tease those chrome - Google knows and learns you better than yourself - fans :)

BTW I also use Firefox 4 in both Linux and Windows and didn't see that orange box ... maybe a full clear cache or uninstall / install would help.

Welcome to the beautiful world of Chrome - a world where web pages load up double as fast and you don't have 2 birthdays between the time you double click on the icon and the browser actually opens! :P
Kidding, just to tease those firefox-is-secure fans (when actually it's not) :)

BTW I don't see the orange box in Firefox 4, Chrome 12 or Internet Explorer 9. Seems like something broken on your end, as AvatarX has explained.

It is gone now. It was showing up right where the Facebook thing is. I was switching browsers so I don't know if it showed up while using any other besides Firefox. But PLEASE don't let that stop you guys from discussing browsers. It is getting interesting...

@ MUTU: You took the bait, as I expected :D

Well, nothing is really secure (otherwise I might had no job :P). With every browser a user can click to the wrong OK and transform his PC to a zombie participating in a botnet somewhere :)

Thing is that at least with Firefox you can have the source code, read it (just to be sure that every click to a new URL is NOT being sent out to a search engine for indexing - like new IE does), or even modify it if you have some knowledge :)

And it cares more about a user's privacy, not like Chrome, which in its first license :

"... end-user licensing agreement that gave the company "a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through" the new browser..."

http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/ ... objections

All browsers have some bugs, goods etc but the privacy issues is not something we should take lightly ...

Agreed, but considering that Chrome was the only browser unbeaten in a number of hacking challenges (and others were hacked in a matter of minutes) shows real solidity.

As for privacy, personally I don't care less. What is Google going to do, spam me on Gmail? They don't need me using Chrome to do that.

No, you get the HTML source, not the browser's source code.
