I keep getting the "A disk read error occurred"
"Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
The one where you press it and it doesn't restart.
How do you fix this.
I'm quite a newbie so take me step by step,

There are no easy solution for this problem because I'm 95% sure that your hard drive is damaged. It's very difficult to fix broken hard drive. But you can read these posts and maybe some of them are usable:

You should contact with your local IP-guy and he can tell you exactly if you can save some files from computer, are there any chance to fix it or the worst scenario - he's just gonna tell you how much is the price for a new hard drive. If you have a valid guarantee, then Fujitsu-Siemens takes care of the problem.

To anyone who knows - what do you reckon is the cause of this. I can press F2 and tell you more. I can reformat it so long as it's not wasted :(

It could be a virus or some hard drive sectors are damaged.
Could you please explain "I'm getting the dick"? :DD

Didn't I just say "that sounded so wrong"? How can you tell If it's a virus or my drive? Is there any way you can check? I could open up the F2 menu and tell you some stuff you might need to know. If I need a new drive how much does that cost? How about a reformat/reinstalling windows? Remember: Fujitsu-Siemens. Thanks!

Does it happen every time or just some times? If it only happens every so often, it is quite possibly just a loose contact. Open up the case, disconnect the cable from the hard disk and the other end from the motherboard, and stick them back in. Don't just press them in, disconnect them completely and put them back in. Might fix your problem.

1- It's a laptop
2-Every time I turn it on.
3- I'm afraid of opening things up :/

Oh. Then you should take it to a repair place. Laptops are generally difficult to open up, unless you have some panel on the bottom of your laptop that allows you to disconnect your hard disk.

Usually laptop back panel is removable, all you need is screwdriver. But even if you open your back panel, disconnect the hard drive and then put it back and it still doesn't work, then what you gonna do next? You can't fix it on your own. As I said before, easiest way is to contact with local cable guy and see what are your options. Usually Fujitsu Siemens hard drives depending on size costs 60€ - 125€.
