Good move, now we need to appoint a sporting director ASAP.

One year? Says a lot about our "endless" trust in Ancelotti huh?

Ancelotti has still two years of contract and likely Sagnol as assistant is a decision of the board (and while Ancelotti accepted it is said he is not overjoyed or exactly happy about that appointment) so that the lengh of the contract said nothing about Ancelotti's situation or his relationship with the board (the voice is who Ancelotti wanted his son as his main and only assistant, while the board want as first assistant someone more expert than Davide and tied to the club as replacement for Gerland who replaced Clement in January)

So how exactly does that contradict to my conclusion? Albeit maybe you could argue about my initial assumption... I think they're just occupying the spot until a better head coach than Ancelotti is available and will them decide on his own anew...

Ancelotti is still one of the best coach in the world and found someone better than him is very hard and this season Bayern can blame a lot of bad luck for failing in CL and Pokal and Ancelotti has still win easily the Bundesliga...
The board can have endless trust in Ancelotti as head coach and still wanted Sagnol over Davide as first assistant coach and giving Sagnol only a year of contract does not say nothing about what they think of Ancelotti or the lenght of his stay in Munich

One year contract for Carlo's assistant all but confirms Nagelsmann 2019 IMO

So, I'm curious, how good is Sagnols reputation as a coach in France, what's his track record been like? Also, any idea if he speaks Spanish/Portuguese?

He had a decent first season with Bordeaux but a disastrous second season after which he was sacked. Though he is best remembered in France for his remarks about "typical African" players who are "powerful" but lack "technique, intelligence and discipline".

Good resume.

And even in his first season, the team rarely producted any good football... except in the first games against Monaco etc..
Bayern 3-3-3-1 build-up under Heynckes :
Neuer - Boateng Hummels Thiago - Kimmich Vidal Alaba - Robben Müller James - Lewandowski
Neuer- Boateng Vidal Hummels- Kimmich Martinez Alaba- Robben James Ribéry- Lewandowski

I'm not impressed by his managerial record, though it is always nice to welcome a former player into the ranks. Time will test his abilities, let's wait and then discuss.

Unfortunately for the football, he is right about many players of African descent active today, especially in the Premier league. Rather crude thing to say but still.

Didn't he he just said that he don't like to sign players from Africa cause every two years they have to leave for the ACN in Jan?

Tactical discipline and awareness is the weakness of African football,so he was not wrong in that assertion.
If some of the teams manage to equal that to their enthusiasm and will they will eventually win something big

It could be that Sagnol didn't want a longer contract... maybe his plan is not to be an assistant forever. He gets an offer in the middle of the season and leaves like Clement. :P
