Which exactly?
He wanted Bayern to buy Adriano from Inter in 2006 (in hindsight we all know his career went downhill)
And then he wanted Bayern to spend cashloads to buy Kaka. It would have been a very inflated price, and we've seen how he's been eclipsed by Oezil at Real Madrid.

Kaka was the best in the world at that time. He's now eclipsed by Ozil because of injuries which are not allowing him to regain his full fitness.

Yes, it was a no-brainer that Kaka was a good player at the time (so it's not like he mentioned some little-known player). But if we bought Kaka at the time he'd probably have left for close to double what we paid to get both Ribery and Robben, and he's currently inferior to both.

BORDEAUX, SAGNOL NUOVO ALLENATORE

E' Willy Sagnol il nuovo allenatore del Bordeaux. L'ex giocatore della nazionale francese succede a Francis Gillot.

Sagnol is the new Bordeaux coach

Sagnol has gotten some racism-comment sharks' attention by making these comments:

"As long as I remain coach of Bordeaux there will be far fewer African players coming to Girondins de Bordeaux, because I don't fancy seeing 12 players clearing off for two months every two years."

"These are criteria to take into account when it comes to signing players," said the 37-year-old, who also won the 2001 Champions League with Bayern.

"The advantage of what I would call the typical African player is that they are cheap, ready to fight, always what you would call powerful on the pitch.

"But football is not just about that, it is about technique, intelligence, discipline, so you need everything.

"The Nordics as well, the Nordics are good. They have a good mentality. A football team is a mixture, it's like life, it's like France. You have defenders, attackers, midfielders, fast ones, big ones, small ones and technical ones." [source]

This is really bullshit in my opinion. He said positive things about African players and said however those attributes alone are not enough and that you also need others.

I agree with him, really. Obviously he's talking about footballing "technique, intelligence, discipline" - things you get with proper infrastructure and youth systems. As African nations tend to lack these, then it's only logical that their players start out at a different skillset than a pampered La Masia graduate, for example.

I don't think there's anything racist in that. There are a lot of similar characteristics for players of common backgrounds and then the point about african players leaving in the middle of the season is also correct.

He didn't even say they lack these. He only implied that people with only those attributes are not good enough.
