MUTU wrote:The problem with Uli Hoeness is that he's eccentric, and he loves to be seen as eccentric. So he will always be saying stuff that shocks people, and he's been doing it for as long as I remember. It's who he is. The problem is that the year is now 2017 and everyone is more politically correct than ever before, so nowadays it's considered too much over the top.

Add his ego and power-hunger into the mix and it will not be possible to sit down with him and ask him to take it down a notch.

Maybe he's just being himself? Why do you think he "loves to be seen as eccentric" when he could just be speaking his mind and is being his natural self? It does seem like quite a consistent pattern, after all. I don't see it as a big problem.

In fact, I see it is a good thing to have people around in 2017 who are willing to openly speak their mind rather than bow to the whims of "political correctness". Do you really want to live in a world where everyone is intimidated to think and speak "correctly"?

Reading over this thread really made me nauseated.

Rummenigge sold Kroos to Madrid and replaced him with Xabi.
Rummenigge got Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman as heirs to Ribery/Robben.
Rummenigge hired Ancelotti.

But yet, somehow, everything is Uli's fault. And why? Because he is not "PC"?

Uli certainly has his faults, but the knee jerk reaction to blame everything (or most things) on him is egregious.

I predict that Uli's new prediction will look funny in 5-10 years time, along with the other claims that Bayern will not participate in the "madness".

He spits out this crap every few years... Just recently he pointed out that he was wrong about it before... Man's a great businessman and visionary... But not an expert on the soccer market...

He is not far from being right imo. The most successful period in recent Bayern history is when our academy produced some of the best players in the world. While the european commission and the powers to be welcome silly investments from the middle east, Russia and beyond because to them is revenue, taxes and jobs, football is being ruined. Imagine in the near future there is 15 clubs that are bankrolled by oil states. What will become of the transfer market? It will become un-sustainable. The future for our club is to spot and develop talent, use farming clubs and not deviate from our philosophy, or maybe a little where wages are concerned.

Dinosaur.
Uli in 2017 is like someone in 1960 saying they'd never pay more than €2000 for an automobile. Antiquated way of thinking and it's a stupid arbitrary line to draw in the sand.
Keep him in charge of youth development, fine by me, but as far as senior team transfer policies? Either he's in denial or choosing to be willfully ignorant.

Idealistic sentiments. The club hasn't got a competitive scouting network, the club let the squad planner leave to freaking VfB Stuttgart and no efforts are being made apparently to bring in a replacement. Let alone the topic of putting someone in charge of what deserves to be called a Sporting Director.

No we won't, we have financial success and only sell who we want to sell. I believe that certain characteristics and personality is required to play for Bayern and greed shouldn't be one of them. We need to instill hard work, loyalty and family values a sense of belonging to a great institution to our players.

With Uli we can hardly hire a competitive enough person that can tolerate Uli's ego. It's mostly likely to be a yes-man to take the job. Uli might have a lot of connections in the business sector, so he gets the most votes from shareholders. But With him we are not likely to solve the squad planner problem, hence we might witness more chaos in transfers, as you say.

So now he's averaging 1,0 points per game as a coach.

Shame.

Very pleasant self-criticism by Hoeneß today, concerning the "feud" with Kalle.
