christ I hope they continue the Douglas Costa genetic engineering experiment that took place at the start of the season.

ugh, it's annoying how Müller is missing all these pens this/last season. I love Müller, but it should be better if Lewandowski is our PK taker from now on

And he used to score each one...

He had a very good shot in the second half but other than that he was invisible again. No idea what's wrong with him.

Vidal over Lewy imo, just as powerful of a shot, but with less run up. I love Thomas to death, but somethings gotta change until he gets his confidence back.

Don't worry, he'll stop taking them, just like Robben stopped... but in this one, he had to take one.

This is a twitter account that turns many heads, but maybe it might be interesting to hear someone who sees it from the other side (the side that doesn't love him to death like us):

Muller has to play a fast paced game to shine...
I am confident that under the new coach he will go back to his old self... Have faith in him...

I believe he just doesn't fit this German team especially after having played a whole season centrally as a SS. Someone asking to "explain the 2016 version of Muller" shows that he has only watched him in this tournament because this past season was one of Muller's best. He's improving not declining, but he has evolved as a player and Loew is still playing him as he did 6 years ago (although admittedly, the personnel available do require that).

I have a feeling that Muller will still prove to be key... maybe he'll score the title winner.

EDIT: Luck has also played a role though. He had a very good shot yesterday in the second half that could have gone in and he could have scored 2-3 vs N. Ireland.

Mueller has been unlucky not to score in this tournament... Florenzi made a miraculous "save" last night, Buffon was beaten... he gave up on taking penalties already... but it's not like others are doing great in that "sector"...
As for Mueller not having the skills with the ball, that's the most ridiculous claim ever or that Germany is playing with 10 players, pfft. IMO he had a good tournament despite not scoring... Germany failed to create chances last night, Gomez had to create the most dangerous chance... Loew started the game with a coward mentality - game plan.

I'm not gonna defend him anymore cause I know that soon I won't have to.

Let's face it: had Draxler not completely **** up that pass it would have been a Müller goal...
Someone, fire that Italian **** already! I don't care who, I don't care how much it costs or who'll be the next coach - just make sure he's gone and he stays gone!!!

To be fair he did score against Dortmund between the Atletico and the Italy misses. I mean, Ozil missed two in just this tournament alone. Good that he will be working on them though.

Regarding penalties, Rafa did an article with Ben Lyttleton where he confirmed what I've been suspecting for some time - namely that big profile players statistically find it harder to convert penalties than lesser known players. As Müller's reputation as a penalty taker has grown, goalkeeper have also improved their game against him. It's a natural cycle, perhaps. Still needs to get his shit together. :P

He's not quitting. He said he will not take another one for a while until he reworks his technique. Sounds like the right thing to do.
