Just remembered why Müller missed the World Cup 2010 semi-final against Spain.

Can't open the video ATM. It was Messi, right? I hate him since. Messi handed Spain the WC with that dive. So much for the player who "never dives". Psssss.

OT: Spain 2010 is the single worst WC winner ever... Didn't win even 1 match by a margin of more than 1 goal. Record for champions with least scored goals. Disgusting Catanaccio tiki-taka at its very worst.

It was for a handball, Messi asked for the handball. IMO it wasn't intentional and his arm was close enough to the body. Dumb refs in the WC, nothing new.
Btw Messi played with his arm there first.

Very harsh yellow indeed...
If that happened today Muller wouldn't get booked, it's just the feeling, now he is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world,a world champion maybe the best German footballer ATM
Back then at 2010 "who is Muller? by Maradona" just another talent, it's typical for the referees to enforce the rules and go by the book against not such big names like Muller was at 2010 and at the same time spare some yellows or penalties for the well known

But then there is Klose who got sent off in the group stage and Germany lost that game. Everyone knew who Klose was... but that bastard Undiano Mallenco wanted to play ballsy hero or who knows, I hate him ever since.
Klose, one of the world known fair players.

Catanaccio (not Catenaccio) is a (less widely employed) term which refers to that sterile possession variant of Pep's ideas which results in a team just keeping the ball for the sake of not letting the other team play. Defensive football by way of sterile possession, if you will.

PD it's a portmanteau of Catalonia and Catenaccio.

well colour me taught

(still an unrepresentative term, by the way, but that's a more tedious discussion)
