Mueller is one of the most hated and underrated outside Bayern... if you start bashing Mueller then you should start asking yourself if you're a Bayern fan. He's the face of Bayern...

Hoeneß: "Thomas Müller currently has a lack of self-confidence. We have to give him all the time in the world."

"We must come through a player like him until he scores again."

It sounds like Müller is leaving. :(

I don't think the same degree of honesty applies for ALL parties involved. "We are behind you" in the case of Thomas is one thing, in the case of Carlo it feels just a bit too diplomatic while we work the phones behind closed doors.

Here's Müller leading a fan club in "Silent Night"

Coincidentally he's been silent both on and off the pitch now.

Why Müller isn't good this season by Eurosport.fr

[...] The third also has serious consequences for him and Lewandowski : the 4-3-3 of the Italian technician appears too static, defense, middle and attack acting alone. Müller moved to the same position in the national team, but he was accustomed and allowed by his coach to swap with Mesut Özil: lately, in club, he is confined to his starting position, which prevents him from prowling in this area of repair where he is so dangerous: all of his 20 goals in 2015-2016 in the Bundesliga were inscribed from inside the surface! To this is added bad luck and already three shots on the amounts this season in the championship.

Oh yeah, social media frenzy... Because social media have been around for exactly Ancelotti's tenure here... Because Müller, Vidal, Sanchez and Lewandowski are beasts and/or goal machines for their NTs, while they are shit with Carlo...
Social media problem... Seems legit...

It doesn't explain everything but it's true that certain players (Alaba in particular) seem too distracted by their image. I don't think it's the reason for bad performances either but it surely doesn't help.

Rummenigge: Müller Kaiser von China [source]

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: Thomas Müller "a gold piece" for FC Bayern

Rummenigge: Müller - Emperor of China

In an interview, the Bayern boss assessed Müller's position at Bayern. He crowns him as the monarch. Rummenigge's key experience was an appearance in the Far East.

Thomas Müller may be stuck in a crisis in football. As a person, he is an institution at FC Bayern. This view is now represented in the highest levels of the board.

In the newly published book "Thomas Müller - The Phenomenon", Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge emphasized in an interview with author Jörg Heinrich Müller's position with Bayern - far beyond the sport.

"Müller is a trademark"

The national player is "a piece of gold" for the club. "Thomas Müller is one of the best known players in the world, and he is treated with the utmost respect," says Rummenigge. "So the name of Müller is everywhere, and everyone has respect for it, which is an absolute hallmark."

Rummenigge was able to get a picture of how valuable such a player can be in his daily life during a promotional tour in the Far East.

"I remember when we were in China in 2015, the people there were totally freaked out when Thomas Müller got out of the hotel or when he went to the square," the Bayern boss remembers in a separate chapter of the book. "He was there a bit the Emperor of China."

Müller is the "Bayern embodiment par excellence"

Such an actor wants to be held out in his ranks. That is exactly why the Bavarians have so far dealt every offer for the 27-year-old - even that of Manchester United last year, which was in three-digit million. And they will probably deal with it in future inquiries.

For Rummenigge, Müller is always a record champion. For him, he embodies "Bayern par excellence". The club boss is sure: if you wanted to carve a Bavarian footballer, "then Thomas Müller would come out".

Interestingly, I do know more than a few Chinese girls who think that Müller is the hottest stuff around. On top of that a lot of Chinese people also recognise him as this player who is by far the best one in Germany like how Messi and Ronaldo are the only untouchable talismans in their countries. It's surprising to the point of being weird. It must be because of the World Cups since he's always performed.
