He could take Goetze's spot... :P

Sure he could. I also think he'd be far more suited for that than Götze, because unlike Mario, Thiago is extremely creative.

Don't forget that Goetze doesn't have a spot... most of the time.

That could change with Carlo. But if Götze wants to leave/Bayern wants to get rid, there's not much he can do :)

Barca didn't miss a lot for letting him go... he's been injured most of the time... they got rid of his pay... and they won the CL after him among other things. I say Barca didn't do a bad business in this case. He had a release clause which was about his real value at the time... Not a great miss if you ask me as how things turned out so far.
In the other hand, Bayern made plans with him but he was unavailable most of the time, had to give him a pay even then... maybe some players that could've served us more were driven out because of him... and etc. We can still sell for 25M, I believe but... not being available and making him a serious part of our project, that's an irreversible cost IMO.

Actually barca did miss a lot.

He would be the ideal replacement for both xavi-iniesta, instead of paying 100m for pogba and failing. It was selling Cesc, barca didn't miss anything.

Rakitic-Thiago would of been a great pairing with MSN. However, Thiago was too impatient. Barca spend too much money on Turan and his brother, rafinha is nowhere near as good as Thiago.

If barcelona can get gundogan or verratti, they be set though

Alright... We'll see how his story continues here... he would've been useless at Barca for this time cause he's been injured most of the time. They didn't need an injured player to help them. I'm not betting anything yet on Thiago.

IMO for a Midfielder the best age is 27-28

I heard multiple times today the commentator saying how soft Bayern's midfield was. For me, besides Vidal, a midfield featuring Thiago and Alosno is just as weak as our defense.

I think that this current midfield was assembled assuming Thiago would be at his best, but against the big dogs, I just haven't seen it.

There have been great moments of scoring quality under pressure (the winning penalty vs. B04 last year, the goal against Juve), but as a midfielder, he's not controlling the game with his passing like he's capable of, and that's hurting us.

EDIT: Obviously our average play in 2016 is not all Thiago's fault, but he has been disappointing to me for sure.

As I said, he doesn't have balls to boss the midfield, he even manages to piss me off with his detestable nonchalance, when you see someone like Vidal dying with every ball ...
