To be fair, Coco means shit in Portuguese... :D

And Griezmann is pretty underwhelming on the wings. That's why Simeone play him as a striker

Don't you have in Portuguese something like "El Coco"/"O Coco"(?)? (The devil). That can be its meaning

Nope ... "O coco" never means devil in Portuguese.

Devil would be "Demônio" or "Demo" for short. Or Zebu (short of Beelzebub), or "Coisa Ruim" (The Bad Thing), and a few other nicknames, but never CoCo

Lol. In Venezuelan Spanish, Cuca is slang for the female sex organ. This inter-language nickname thing is hard.

Today was what I was talking about in the Rode thread - you could SEE that Thiago is far from his to form... Compared to what he did in his first year, that was nothing today...

As I said in the match thread, bollocks. Thiago was playing fine and his gliding runs forward were one of the few menaces we had in the center. I'd imagine the reason he was subbed off was because he can't handle the double pivot role in the 4-4-2-ish system we switched to in the second half to maximize the front four's efficiency. This doesn't mean that he's in poor form, and I look forward to seeing him continuously paired with Vidal in the center because that combo works so well and can only get better.

You did get a few things wrong yesterday. The team played fine until the break albeit being a goal down. Your frustrations just got the best of you. Even Neuer, who took a chance and had the ball fall in the wrong place, started getting criticized for the same stuff that got him two trophies in Brazil.

I expected to go and watch an horrendous half by Thiago and Bernat while all I saw were regular performances by both. And yet none talk about the poor work by Dante and Naldo which were half the reasons for the goals yesterday or Alonso's shift to a deeper midfield right and a switch to two CBs on buildups to get out of the throat high pressing by Wolsfburg. Whatever it was, Alonso had a massive game yesterday, so did Vidal. Taking out either one would have made no sense.

Well, if you claim the first half was "fine", at least here in Germany you would be in a HUGE minority... ;)
Also, to me "fine" is not "not having a single opportunity inside the box"... ;)

If THIS is the best Thiago can do he's nowhere near what some of us (including me!) think of him... He can play WAAAAYYYY better!

And I'm not the one who criticized Neuer... ;)

i didn't get why Pep subbed out Thiago honestly.

In the first half, I thought Gotze was terrible and bernat ok, thiago good.

I will still never understand why alonso plays every match. I would rather put Vidal as the DM and allow martinez/benatia/boateng to create some longballs instead.

Vidal is not a DM and is his talent will be wasted if he is ever played as one, we have Kimmich and Javi for that. And Alonso had a really good game yesterday, I get that Thiago is super talented, but yesterday he was the correct player to sub out and Pep got his second half changes spot on. Alonso's ball distribution is years ahead of Vidals, which is why Vidal will always be best utilized as a pitbull of a box to box midfielder where he can press and tackle all day long

I didn't like Gotze either on the wing but he excelled when he was playing centrally and exploiting the middle of the park.

Well, yes... But I think if we ever WERE in a situation where we cannot sub anymore, need to defend fiercely, have no punch on offense - I think those are situations when he would do fine as a DM for like 30 minutes or so... But yes, with his pace and as hard-running as he is - that would not be a good choice at the beginning of a match... (Well maybe if we ever planned on not having much possession and to concentrate merely on counterattacks... idk...)
