His contract runs until 2017 so unless he renews in the meanwhile, we can get him without a problem in 2016

I know, but we are going to have some strong competition for him. Unlike Verratti though, he's German and might be inclined to stay in a more familiar environment for him.

Tbh I think our midfield is pretty packed as it is, and a signing of gundogan/verratti will only make it harder for our young talents (kimmich, hojberg, gaudino etc) to break into the team. Vidal, Thiago, Götze, Alonso, Javi, Rode, Lahm and Alaba are all capable of playing in midfield + the young guys so we don't really need anyone else. Imo a young cb to cover our injury/suspension problems and a backup striker (just like Pizarro) are what we need to go far.

Verrati would be the sensible choice, Gündogan makes no sense. He plays the same role as Thiago and Vidal (but in a manner very very similar to Alaba). Verrati would be a replacement for Xabi (Old) and Javi (Injury prone), in a position which Kimmich plays (too young).

Honestly, it's thiago keeping Gotze on the team sheet....

Thiago is better than GOtze at literally every aspect outside of scoring goals maybe

If he has fun at barca, he will enjoy playing for an ex barca manager team...

Vidal, Thiago and Verrati midfield would be awesome.

I don't know that Thiago is better than Gotze, but under Pep he plays better in this system. I have seen too many great games by Gotze in Dortmund or Germany's shirts to be totally sure of that.

As for the midfiled purchases, we need depth going forward. Alonso will not be here next year most likely, Lahm will be 32 and it seems like even Guardiola has given up with him in midfield. Alaba is still needed more at the back and Javi is still a question mark regarding his injuries. Hojbjerg will probably not make it at Bayern, he is a good but not great player. And Vidal also is not a young player anymore, he'll be 29 by next year. So that leaves us with Thiago and an inexperienced Kimmich. We need more key players there.

Verratti would be amazing as well, but much harder to get. Gundogan is a much easier target, but would probably require Thiago to play deeper. But I think that is his long-term position anyway.

Next season's mid: Vidal, Thiago, Kimmich, Lahm, (maybe) Alonso, (maybe) Götze, Rode and Højbjerg... Not to mention Alaba, and Martinez that could play there ...

Why would we sign Verratti or Gündogan ?!

ramsej84 wrote:That would be awsome but I don t think that we ll go for him. On the other hand our prime target should and has to be Grieann and Laporte... 100m for both should be enough. I know it sounds like from a hahamadrid fan but if we want to stay at the level we are we have to spend.

Why should we go for Griezmann ?! We are more than covered upfront...

Laporte would be great, but we should offload Benatia first though.

yh I dont really get the Griezmann purchase in our current squad. Hes fast and plays more centrally. That would mean that he would compete for 1 or 2 spots with Gotze, muller, and lewa. when it comes to the wings, assuming robben and ribery still have a bit to go, he would be competing with robbery and coco. Griezmann would want to be a starter. So where exactly would he play?

If Badsy comes back to full health we would have Badsy, Boa, Javi, Alaba, and Kirchoff(?). I think instead of Laporte we could find a cheaper cb.
Also can we just officially make Alaba our LCB in our back 3. He's seems the best for that position.

CoCo have surprised us all, but are we sure they are going to hit the heights of Robbery? One thing missing from them is goals, which Robben and Ribery provided in abundance at their peak. And we need those goals to be able to win the CL again.

Griezmann is a player that can provide that, leaving CoCo to fight it out between them for the other winger spot.

Stop trying to make CoCo happen... It's not going to happen ... :D

To be fair, Coco means shit in Portuguese... :D

And Griezmann is pretty underwhelming on the wings. That's why Simeone play him as a striker

There's no accent in the English language, therefore you can interpret both ways in translation... :D
