Takashi Usami

Postby MUTU » Wed Jan 12, 2011 11:39 am

Bayern are apparently after 18 year old Japanese offensive all-rounder Takashi Usami (Wikipedia) who won the Young Player Award in the J-League. Van Gaal himself expressed interest in the player. He would first be used in Bayern II but could soon make the jump to the first team and he's also an option for the #10 position

More info on http://www.merkur-online.de/sport/fc-ba ... 78265.html

Some info on Usami:

He's already played 3 times for Japan U20, scoring 3 goals. He currently plays for Gamba Osaka and became the youngest player to represent them at 17 years 14 days, and he also scored in his debut match. Since 2009 he scored 7 goals in 24 leage matches.

Seems like Usami was the non-EU offensive all-rounder mystery guy that Bayern were trying to get on loan.

His club refused to allow him to come on trial with Bayern. It's uncertain whether a bid is in question or not now.

WHO?

Could be A new Kagawa or Son , but also a flop

Louis Van Gaal said that he wanted to see him , so i think he was the non-EU player

BTW , He Plays for Gamba Osaka , A Top team in Japan

Kagawa played for Cerezo Osaka , a 2nd Division Club

Both are from same city though

wow.
what steps he has made.

he came for almost nothing and now hes one of the best scoring midfielders in the league.
although i have to say, besides his goals i dont see him doing much on the pitch.
but then again, i watched one full game by dortmund, rest are just highlights.

Kagawa has Sweet Technique , good dribble , and sometimes he SICK passes

sometimes he disappears for 10 minutes , but then he gives the Assist or scores a goal

SilentStrike wrote:wow.

Yes , he helped his club to Go up to the First Division , then came to Dortmund

Takashi Usami is another talent emerging from the youth system of Gamba Osaka. Born in the Kyoto prefecture, he joined Gamba’s U15s in 2005.

In 2007 he was promoted to the their U18s youth team, while already a regular fixture at international level.

Usami made history in 2009 when he made his Asian Champions League debut a couple of weeks after turning 17, scoring his first professional goal.

He participated in Japan’s ill-fated 2009 World Cup campaign in Nigeria and is now a member of the Japan U19 team.

During this J-League campaign Usami has been a regular starter, playing 25 games and scoring nine goals, including crucial strikes against the Urawa Red Diamonds and cross-town rivals Cerezo Osaka.

Registered as a midfielder, Usami is in reality the prototype of the 21st century forward; besides a refined technique common to most Japanese players of his generation, he is quick, imaginative, tactically savvy and - considering his young age - physically fit.

In particular, he seems capable of finding the back of the net from a variety of areas, as evidenced by the variety in his goals.

There has been rumoured interest from European clubs but at the moment the 18 year-old is happy to showcase in his no.33 jersey at Gamba, with hopes to soon break into the senior national team set-up.

His performances have impressed the newly appointed Japan manager Alberto Zaccheroni, who is said to be following the prodigious young talent closely.

And given the overall the well-documented dearth of top-class strikers in Japan, don't be surprised if the Italian decides to include Usami in his squad for the 2011 Asian Cup in January.

It's so random of Dortmund though, to scout in the 2nd division of Japan.

Unless he breaks into our first team, there isn't all that much marketing potential. We need to look at his skills first and foremost, but the fact that he won the Young Player Award is a good sign. What I like about these Asian players is that they have terrific stamina and mental attributes. They are also very professional and determined.

Hope it's true.....
Japanese football has developed abundantly in the last decade... The fact that he is their best young player, means a lot...
He can come and help FCB-II, that really needs help in the offensive department... And then he can gradually be added to the senior squad...
Additonally, Japaneses' cultural background makes it easier for them to acclimatize with the new environment in Germany, much better than south Americans or other Asians... They themselves have some of the basic German attributes: Being organized, working hard....

The transfer would also be beneficial for our business section, IMO... It would be easier to act strongly in the Japanese market...

uhm, buying a japanese player certainly wont make us more popular in china, lol.

but yeah it would be great if we can get more business with the japanese market. Dortmund vs Bayern (Kagawa vs Usami) would be shown on pretty much any tv channel there.

but lets not forget priorities, hes suposed to make us a better team too. we're not here just to do marketing.

we pretty much posted at the same time.
but yeah i agree with your post but lets not get ahead of ourselves. he wont become a good marketing unit if he plays at bayern II.
he'll have to breakthrough if we want him to actually sell shirts or attract television. so we'll have to see if he can manage to bench one of our current stars or if he can be a valuable substitute. thereofre, the priority remains that he must be an extraordinary player.

The main thing is, will he get a spot? Unless we change our entire formation I don't see him replacing Muller.
