Good one Ele!

Well, he's not going to bench a fully-fit Ribery or Robben in his first year, he is only 19 years old after all. If he stays I do think he will be their successor though.

Come on, I'm pretty sure the whole Manchester United team downloaded that goal.

I heard they have a new nickname for Usami on the team... He now is supposedly the "friendliest player in Bavaria."
God, are you there? Shut up son, Gómez is scoring!

It's probably because he can't speak to anybody and just smiles a lot.

Here is what I think:

FCBayernMunchen wrote:I think I finally understand why Usami is not playing or sitting on the bench.

Apart from the already mentioned ideas of he "needs to toughen up a bit" and he "needs a break after the Japanese league", I think there's another reason which is probably what is holding Jupp back. In his time here, Heynckes has struggled, and succeeded, to create a good defense, and everyone is helping out both going forward and defending. I think our Japanese kid still needs a translator for now and that would make working in a team and following instructions really hard. It would disrupt the well-disciplined system Heynckes has set up.

Everytime he played with us he showed really nice things. Look at this video of him in the preseason. He played great against Barcelona =D>

I have huge hopes in him. Hopefully we will see more from him this year [-o< I keep saying that I see a Japanese Özil in this guy. Of course Mesut is better, but Usami has similar skill moves

I agree with Xabi.

On the ball, Usami is absolutely wonderful for his age. Hes got the immense Robben like ability to dribble in close quarters (Ozil is the epitome of this) even when under pressure from 2-3. Ability to change directions with ease. Whats makes me even more excited about him is that he does have that unique vision to distribute like playmakers, like Ozil, Kroos. Hes very good at quick 1-2's and so far his crosses dont seem 1/2 bad as well.

What he really needs to work on is his off-the-ball. He needs to make smarter runs off the ball (hes not bad but thats what he needs to learn tactically). He needs to be able to win the ball back from opponents (thats where he needs to work on his physique, Ribery for a tricky winger is extremely strong, he should learn from him). He also needs to work on his fitness to be able to play 90 minutes of world class football.

Out of all the youths backups we have in Alaba, Usami, Can, Breno. I am most excited about Usami even though Alaba is more proven.

I really really hope we sign him and give him more opportunities in the second half of the season.

The first part is a given... as in given the fact that he traveled all the way to the middle east to train with the rest of the team.
