I think he offers a different perspective to others. His calm presence should not be undermined. When the team is panicking, you can throw him on and he will help stabilize the team. He's useful for when you need him most.

I felt that Rudy was much better in BL season than he was in the cup. In whatever case I imagine he will get his share of minutes this upcoming season, but I won't be surprised at all if he's sold for profit next summer.

This. A good backup, nothing more

I wouldn't say backup. I prefer to say a complement.

Perhaps yes. I don't think we'll see him starting often but he does offer a different style to those I expect to be our starters.

In my view, he would make the perfect complement to our bench seat.

Rudy can be our newer version of Pirlo.
If Carlo opts for a 41311 (wingerless which I doubt it can be very fruitful for the players we have got.

Neuer
Kimmich Boateng Hummels Alaba
Rudy
Tolisso Martinez Thiago(vidal)
Mueller
Lewa

A starter for what?

No way... Rudy will only play when others are rested...
Someone, fire that Italian **** already! I don't care who, I don't care how much it costs or who'll be the next coach - just make sure he's gone and he stays gone!!!

Maybe, but if you think about it.... he's Alonso's replacement. And Xabi Alonso was a starter

As for your formation, I really don't see how that same formation wouldn't be better with Martinez instead of Rudy, Vidal in the centre, and Robben outside (even though it's wingerless). I think you're just fitting in Rudy for the sake of it.

I wanted to show you that he can start.

Of course he can. The point is even if we choose to adopt that formation (unlikely), we still wouldn't be putting out our best lineup by starting him, based on what we've seen so far. Obviously if he improves further with us it's another matter.
