Robert Lewandowski

Postby MUTU » Fri Jan 10, 2014 9:28 am

The Poland international provoked a furious response from Die Schwarzgelben supporters after penning a five-year contract with their Bavarian rivals last week

Robert Lewandowski is considering hiring bodyguards on account of the controversy caused by his decision to leave Borussia Dortmund for Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

It was confirmed last week that the Poland international would be joining the Bavarians on a free transfer, after agreeing a five-year contract with Pep Guardiola's side.

Having already lost Mario Gotze to Bayern last summer, Dortmund fans reacted angrily to the news and, for that reason, Lewandowski is entertaining the idea of extra security for both he and his family.

"We are giving serious thought to it," Maik Barthel, one of the forward's consultants, told SPORT BILD.

According to the paper, Lewandowski, whose Facebook profile page has been targeted by irate Dortmund supporters, is considering personal protection after seeing how Gotze was treated when it was announced that he would be joining Bayern.

Indeed, the Germany international employed bodyguards to protect his home and accompany him on his first trip to Die Schwarzgelben's training ground after news of his transfer broke. [source]

Didn't he already hire, I mean marry, a bodyguard? Reigning Polish Karate champion or something along the lines? :D

Why don't we sign him on loan until the end of the season?

Considering somebody already said RL9 on his transfer rumour thread, it does raise the question, what number is he likely to receive realistically?

Probably 18 yeah, I don't think Mandzu will leave the 9 to him, and there is really no reason for him to do it.

Or he might take some other number that has some special meaning to him, who knows!

He may take a number which a previous Bayern striker has had.
For example 24 Santa Cruz or 18 Klose.

2 years ago DFL made decision to forbid numbers beyond #40 to prevent the players from taking them. Some players like Dino Drpić and Andreas Görlitz wanted to take #69 and #77.

I don't know why was that 'necessary', but I really like to see number 99, #88, #80, #77, #44 on the player's kit.

The same thing goes in La Liga where players can only choose numbers from 1 to 25(max. number of professional players under contract in one season). Really stupid...

If you can't have number 9 because your mate(Ronaldo) wear it, it remains you to sum with 1 & 8 to get 9. 8)

He should take the #0 to represent the transfer fee Bayern paid for him like Vieri did for Inter when he chose #32 or sumthin :P

Cool :)

Also 18 is 9x2. I think it makes a lot of sense for him to get that number.

Also the last player to don the #18 shirt for Bayern was also born in Poland, Miroslav Klose.

C'mon... you're not the first one to say that in our forum.

I think 18 is more for a midfielder. Like Sahin (8 was taken by Gündogan).
Kraft
Lahm, Hummels, Badstuber, Contento
Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Can
Schöpf, Müller, Alaba

Even Neuer can wear #10, why not? Maybe it's not so usual, but he can take it. Matthäus wore #10 for years at Bayern while he was playing on CB. So what? It's ok. In case that is allowed in Bundesliga to take from #1 to #99 I would surely take #99 as a striker.

Two times better player and striker than a player with #9 on the back.

To be honest, number issue is totally irrelevant. What we should really care about is how Lewy will play under Bayern regime and not which number is a typical striker's number or not. He can take #2 do his job(scoring goals) better than ever and better than his forward collegues all across Europe if you ask me.
