So, prasun77, I take it you believe Lewandowski is the best striker in the world and at least one class above Suarez/Higuain/Aguero/Kane/Griezmann/Cavani/Aubameyang?

Yes, he is.
Higuain isn't even in the conversation at this point.
Similarly, Griezmann isn't very close, and truthfully Agüero (though I do rate him) would probably be second-choice right now if G. Jesus wasn't injured.
Suarez has been just average this season (FAR below Lewandowski's level) and having just transferred I think it's safe to say Aubameyang would be wholly inaccessible (never mind the fact that he's also not at Lewandowski's level).

For me the only two who are really anywhere close at the moment are Cavani and Kane.

But, truth be told, I'm not sure either of them are realistically accessible, either.
Cavani has a contract until 2020 and at a club like PSG he won't move unless they're sick of him or he demands a transfer.
Kane has a contract until 2022 and is an Englishman playing in the EPL. That's basically untouchable at this point, but in addition he's rated at €120m by Transfermarkt and nearly €200m by CIES. If we wanted a player like Kane we'd likely have to triple our transfer record at minimum to even have our offer considered. Not going to happen.

In terms of G+A/90 combined over the past season:
1. Lewandowski 1.43
2. Kane 1.23
3. Agüero 1.05
4. Aubameyang 1.01
5. Suarez 0.83
6. Griezmann 0.79
7. Cavani 0.78
8. Higuain 0.62

Simply put: anybody who we'll be able to realistically afford is going to be a pronounced downgrade.

Well, I'l talking about a hypothetical scenario whereby a club offers a mega deal for Lewandowski that completely funds any of the guys mentioned above, and Lewandowski would want to move. G+A/90 comparisons are not religion, as I'm sure you appreciate.

Sure, but even by hypothetical standards that's a bit far-fetched, no? No club is going to pay as much for Lewandowski as would be required to give us a replacement of his caliber.

Nonetheless, you can look at additional metrics if you so choose - even if you take money out of the equation, we're probably taking a downgrade.

He misfires sometimes but he's in arguably the form of his life... anyway if he's unhappy here, let him leave. I said the same thing about Ribery in 2009. First of all, I'm a fan of this club, and I don't care if he's a Ballon d'Or contender or not.

Robert Lewandowski: I'm lucky because my wife is an expert on diet. She knows what I should eat and what kind of vitamins I should take, and I see the difference on the pitch.Everyone's expectation is that I score two or three goals per game and I can do this. I've been thinking about this more, and I've become hungrier as well. If I score one goal in a game, I try to score the second goal. That is my thinking.

Lewandowski on his daughter's birth: The first four or five weeks were very difficult because I didn't know exactly what I should do. But after five weeks, we learnt that the baby was easy. We don't have any problems because she doesn't cry too much.

If Lewandowski needs to rest up before a big game? My wife will say to me: 'I'll look after everything. I know that you need to sleep well.I don't watch much football because I have such little time with my family and my friends. I don't remember the last time I watched a game for 90 minutes. Sometimes I see the games, but only 15 minutes, just to see what's happened.

Will you consider you career unfulfilled if you retire without winning the CL?
No. I will be very happy because I know what I've done. Football is one life, and then there's your private life. For me, I'm happy in my private life. I know what I've done in football.
