Wondering if this triggered any clause in his contract... making Bayern pay more for him.

Nop, I don't think so.

Kind of surprised he won it honestly. Unless he was head and shoulders above everyone in the portuguese league...

I would of picked the Italian instead.

Was great with Benfica.
Won 2 titles + Euro + Euro U21 best player.

What surprise ?

Donnamura is a beast, really. But the fact he play in a non-UCL club and didn't play the Euro is a big problem for this award.

He will win it in less than 3 years. A new Courtois, will be ever better I think.

I'm more surprise with Rashford 2nd and Coman third (same story than Sanches, good last season + Euro etc..).

Highly doubt you watch him play in Portugal.

Pretty sure like many, only seen him in Champs league.

If anything I would of selected the ITalian and the Nigerian as the two top choices.

The qualifications for the Golden boy award were only matched by Renato.
Rashford was mostly a sub not a regular starter none of the past winners of this award were mostly sub, quality player though 100% plus that he didn't won any silverware instead of Renato Sanches who won almost everything while being a starter at Benfica.
Coman was also a super sub, very good year & performances indeed but still a sub he played his part and help though for the double.
Donarrumma is a beast he played though for a weak Milan, maybe the weakest he'll get his chance, already he produces miracles.

So Renato Sanches,
silverware ✓
starting caps ✓
quality ✓
age ✓
individual awards(before Golden Boy) ✓
individual performances ✓
record transfer ✓

actually he didn't have an opponent after his EURO trophy and best young player of the tournament, overestimated or not only the future will tell at the moment and for the Golden Boy particularly he is justified 100%

Too bad for Sanches he doesn't play for an EPL or La Liga team. Too bad for him he is portuguese and not brazilian or south-american too.

Without that, he would have been Thiagoalcantara favorite for Golden Boy.

Not really. Dele Alli was fantastic for Tottehman last season and the 2 Young italians for AC Milan.

Isn't kind of ironic , how people criticize Pepe for making the list . Yet, the same kids are using the arguments for sanches.

Even though Pepe won Champs League and Euro Champ.
