The kind of faces this man, Müller, Thiago make when they celebrate goals... You can't fake that. These things win free first class tickets straight to the fans' hearts, regardless of how good they are as players.

Who could've thought he'd stay here for this long, by the way? Remember his indiscipline issues at Schalke and his Genoan getaway? When he joined, I figured him for a stopgap. Now he's been in the team for five years and will surely stay at least a few more. He might, and whisper it lest some people hear this, retire here.
The ideal team

--------Müller with gloves--------
-Müller--Müller--Müller--Müller--
-------Müller---------Müller-------
----Müller----Müller----Müller----

Players like Rafinha and in the past Tymoschuk are the unsung heroes of success. They are good enough to start in every mid table team and are thus extremely good backups. They fight hard and most importantly they never complain. On the contrary, Rafinha seems to bring a good atmosphere to the dressing room.

You can't win everything with 11 superstars and you can't win everything with 23 because it results in too many unhappy players. Neither can you win anything without good backups. I think Rafinha is an important part of the squad. It's true that I'm also a bit sad that it blocks Kimmich's spot at RB, but when not excessive competition is healthy. None of us can complain about either Kimmich's playing time nor his performances so far. We always knew he's actually a midfielder and maybe that's where Carlo sees him. I'm ok with that. Down the line when Lahm actually retires, who knows...

Yes, but to put Tymo and Rafinha in the same package of player is really huge ..

Tymoschuk, before joining Bayern (and even after) was Ukraine captain, more than 100 games for his country, was captain of Zenit who won UEFA Cup (humilate Bayern) and UEFA Super Cup (beat Manchester Utd) etc..

Rafinha is ... nothing. A good RB in Bundesliga.

If, right now, we would have the equivalent of Tymo as a RB-backup ... we would have this player (and he his 10x better than Rafinha) :

Rafinha's celebration as absolutely brilliant to see, but don't forget he's also usually the first to celebrate with any other goalscorer.

She’s beauty, she’s grace, if u tell her she only watches football for the attractive players she’ll punch u in the face.

Rafinha was one of the best RBs in Germany before he joined Genoa and back when we still didn't know about Alaba, many of us wanted him at Bayern with Lahm at LB. He didn't live up to that potential imo, but he was definitely not worse than Tymoschuk.

Me too. But after 10 games I was like "We should have take Coentrao". Fortunaly there was Alaba ...

Same in my case with regard to Coentrao and also Srna. None of them ever turned into world class players. But Rafinha is a good backup and certainly more widely remembered than Srna now.

Not world class, that's your pov. But easily by far better than Rafinha and Bernat.

Coentrao was a starter for Ancelotti first season in Madrid and a starter too for Mourinho in big games.

Srna is a really great RB, easily one of the top 10.

I understand your pov "Rafinha and Bernat are good back-up, we can't have Ricardo Rodriguez and xxxx instead of them".

But if Real Madrid can have Marcelo, Coentrao, Carvajal and Danilo (even if he isn't at his Porto's level) ... why Bayern couldn't ?

Real Madrid consistently play more matches than Bayern per season, so rotation is more important to them.

Raf is a good man.
I did not use to like him in his S04 days,he was a bit of a trouble maker.
But now he has matured.

Regardless of that, Coentrao or this Danilo are no way an upgrade over Rafinha or Bernat...

Dude Rafinha has been the second best RB in the whole Bundesliga for two seasons straight... Danilo has been an absolute disaster for Madrid for 2 seasons (to the point that my Madridista friends used to concede defeat as soon as they saw him in the lineups xD ).
