Are you talking about the Jupp's Dante or Pep's Dante?

In 2013-2014 with Dante at the heart the defense, Bayern broke records for fewest goals conceded and most clean sheets in a Bundesliga season during their treble-winning campaign.

Yes. And he closed it with a penalty on Reus. He wasn't perfect.

Wasnt perfect obviously but he was great. Using him as an example of a bad player is not justified.

He was good in Jupp System where CB are really protected by a double pivot of 2 amazing CB. Even Van Buyten looked world class in 2012-13 when he played (Arsenal - Barcelona..)

In Pep system we saw more of his default.

The CIES Football Observatory, best central defenders 2013:

1. Giorgio Chiellini
2. Dante
3. Leandro Castán

Sure. That of course coming from the same person who said he foresaw problems with a coach who won three championships out of three. Now I understand the  face.

Everyone loved Dante. But more than three coaches thought he wasn't performing as Gladbach or most of 2013. Jorge's inmature rebuttal is blindsided. We was obviously not up to par at later years. Pinning his situation on one coach (Jesus Christ the guy lost 1-7 at home in his most important game ever and caused a penalty in the second) is simply biased.

Surely that was Dante and not the nonexistent Brazil midfield.

Dude... David Luis, Marcelo, Fernandinho were far worst. Dante wasnt to blame for 1-7. He needs a system that fits him, thats clear, but many players do.

Of course not. The seven goals were caused by the midfielders. I mean, it is not like Kroos and Khedira spent the night pressing the CBs right? :P

Whichever the case was, he was a part of the loss and he never recovered. Me and Mo used to call the guy the wall in 2013. He wasn't anywhere near that solid after the Cup. He failed at Brazil and Wolfsburg. Again, hard as it is, he failed under different systems after hitting 30 from what I remember.

We have this defender who not only conceded 7 but managed to score one in his own goal... and still considered WC. If we shall start judging defenders by thrashings.

Image

Piquenbauer had to score one for Bayern. :P

If anything failed for Brazil, it was the midfield.

The Bayern crew used to kill a lot of defenders, Dante is just one of many on the list.

Almost all our players had a great WC, even Green. :P Compare it to the Euro.

I'd add Gustavo there too... he is a magnet for thrashings. I still remember that Pokal final thrashing from BVB.

I painfully acknowledge that my immaturity blindsided me and Pep Guardiola proved me wrong:

Guys can we move on? We follow bayern cause we love the club. What is all this lust for an individual? Guardiola was another coach like others before him.
I am 100% sure that many don't stand him just because all the fanboysm he gets...
