I just love the Starke coffee jokes. The thing I find funniest is that we have absolutely no proof that Starke even likes coffee or ever drank the stuff. We all base it on a 3 second video of him carrying an insulated cup around, which is generally indicative of a hot beverage. But it could have just as well been tea for all we know.

The Spaniard says he craves the affection of those around him rather than silverware
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola insists he just wants to be loved, despite being a man seemingly obsessed with silverware. At 44, the former Barcelona boss has already won the Champions League twice, as well as five league titles in Germany and Spain in his first six years as a manager. But in a revealing lecture on leadership, Guardiola said he is driven by winning the affection of those he works with and not the lure of titles.
He explained: "If you want to know what I want in life and from my work, I want to be loved, I do not seek more. That's what I want, that's a feeling.
"Really, I'm not looking for titles."That said, Guardiola admits it can sometimes be difficult to convey emotion to a player, particularly when they are left out of the team."If you have to leave players out there, they are offended because they think that I do not like them," he added."They do not think that these are decisions for tactical reasons, but because they are not loved."The former midfielder revealed a story involving one of his star players, to highlight the effect of caring about an individual can have on performance.
"I went with him to a cafe and we talked about life, not about football.
"In the next game he scored two of the four goals our team scored. He felt something special, because he felt loved."

Well guess what, not much love in Munich. [-X

If he is talking about this year, I bet it's Lewandowski. He mentions leaving players out, and Robert was left off the Donetsk first match; a few days after that, he scored two goals against Werder Bremen, during a 4-0 win.

He says players perform better when they feel loved. Guess something going on between him & Alaba =D> =D>

We get it, Pep. We get it. Messi is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can understand that Messi holds a special place in Pep's heart and history but seriously, enough is enough.

OK, I have criticized Pep before but I never truly joined the PEP RAUS bandwagon.

Now I do. Just on this statement alone, he should be deported back to Spain and not allowed to set foot in Germany ever again. This is extremely disrespectful towards not only Bayern, but for all of German football history. It'd be equivalent to Van Gaal telling the English media that he hopes they could get the rights to watch the Bundesliga so that they can see what real goalkeeping is. They'd probably lynch him there and then.

Before I take this any further, it seems like it's only quoted on some questionable websites. Doesn't look like it's on the German press. Could these quotes have been made up?

It's not made up. The quotes are here: http://www.fifa.com/world-match-centre/ ... index.html

Really embarrassing and unfortunate.

Didn't he say the other day that he takes advice from children's pedagogues to improve his man managing skills? Epic fail here. Needs to take more lessons.

Perhaps you just don't think Messi's the best. Either way, it is a matter of opinion. I see nothing wrong with it even as a Bayern fan. Should Alaba win the Ballon d'Or like a gazillion times and Heynckes goes back to Madrid or Bilbao ur sum'tin and prays the Bundesliga is screened over there so people can watch how good Alaba is, I wouldn't be surprised at the local reaction either. But yes, that could be a very farfetched situation.

As the Budesliga is already screened in Spain. :)

Oh cmon. If anyone said that in Spain he'd be non-grata. WTF Pep. Yes, we know Messi's great but you have a new team to coach. That's disrespectful to his new team, to Bayern fans, to Bundesliga too.
