Many people had doubts over him and Coco at the beginning of the season, but they both showed titan balls when the team needed them.

Both should start from the next season.

After Hummels.

Nope. Hummels only has better reputation and been around longer. No longer the best centre back in Germany.

Hummels was just as solid in one-on-ones, got at the end of two corner kicks which he might have been able to score whereas Niklas still has to learn how to use his height, and the distribution of the ball is no contest. Sule is ace, but Hummels is still a level above him.

And I agree with Isaih, him and Tolisso showed they should be starters next season.

I agree! He's pace is fine. I'd rate him 7/10, 8/10 at most but his acceleration is bad but that's pretty normal for his size.

All true, except Hummels has lost his head and can no longer maintain a defensive line. Can't remember the last time he had a disciplined game. That alone is enough to to justify a decline. Süle's surpassed him.

Tonight maybe? He led the line extremely well, even though we were playing very high. And he did the same in Munich. He barely had a wrong step all game long.

I'm not sure we're seeing it the same way then. To me, he has been out of order both games. Not necessarily to blame for the goals of course.

Well, the two go together. Hummels-Süle partnership was successful even with Ancelotti.

It's a bit premature to say Süle should be starting ahead of Boateng next season but as a duo he has partnered Hummels better than Boateng. I said this a few days ago, that's why I wasn't worried about him facing Real. The two work well together and that's something that needs to be taken into consideration alongside individual talent.

Ronaldo's miss can be largely contributed to his fear that Suele could be lurking behind.

Süle was amazing tonight and he has been for a while now.

Criticize the board all you want but buying Süle and Kimmich for a combined 28 million is the steal of the century. These 2 are stars and crucial to our future

Hummels was immense in defense IMO but for the love of God can't he just put a single SINGLE header on goal? Infuriating.
Anyways, Boateng is a top player, and I feel bad for saying it, but he's a bit of a liability now, be it due to injury, poor form, or his trademark "Boafarts" that are bound to pop up from time to time. He hasn't been both healthy AND in good form for like 2-3 years now....So again, I don't love to say it, but I'd go into 2018/2019 under the assumption Hummels-Süle would be our first choice CB pairing.

Yep. Totally proud of the big man today. Love Boateng, but his injury record is leaving an opportunity that Süle is seizing.

Didn't know the 'mountain of joy' had pockets so large they could fit both Neymar and Ronaldo. I wonder if there's place for a magical midget in there somewhere.

Exactly what I have thought. After that last header last night. I yelled to screen and said "Hummels for the love of the god do not go attack in the corners" Corners should have been our strength with these kind of tall players (Javi,Süle,Boateng,Hummels,Müller,Lewandowski) But they suck at headers. Go figure.

Actually Hummels has been pretty good throughout his career at corner kicks. He still managed to get at the end of two separate corners. It's the others that should learn a bit more about how to fight for those balls, including Niklas.
