Don't think we're gonna get someone good for anything less than that. Gone are the days where CBs were considered cheap.

Probably Athletic Bilbao won't go much lower than the release clause for Laporte so I'd rather go for this one. Would be cool if we could get our hands on both though.

I prefer Benatia however I still thing that Pep prefers D.Luiz...
If this transfer does materialize it will be the 3rd since I ve been supporting FCB
that I wished a player and he really came: Ribery, Shaquiri...

Never happened for me. If I had a choice I'd prefer Thiago Silva.

Hello guys !

Well, I can tell you confidently that Benatia is one of the best defenders in Serie A in the last 4 years.
He's the best defender Bayern can get taking into account his proven qualities, price and potential.
And I believe that if he was south-american or european, he would have had more recognition.

Laporte came to rise only recently. Benatia was already there for a couple of years.

Couple of years? I think this is the same situation with Dante. Gladbach to Bayern=Udinese to Roma. In bigger clubs they both got recognised.

It is normal that a great player who does not play for one of the best teams in the league is overlooked by fans of foreign teams. Reus is a good example in the Bundesliga for example. The league's fans will be aware of him but those who aren't either won't know or will think he's overrated.

That's why I asked if anyone knows about him. I don't watch too many Serie A games these days but some here might. :)

Chelsea joined Bayern Munich in the hunt for signing Benatia.
Mourinho wants to replace David Luiz who will likely land in Barcelona this summer.
So, if Bayern wants to strengthen its defense, he has to act quickly.

Hopefully we don't miss him.

According to the Italian media, FC Bayern and Manchester United have both submitted offers of €25M for Mehdi Benatia, who has recently refused AS Roma's first contract extension offer. [source]

Cant trust Italian media much but this is one transfer that I definitely want to happen. Hes our most realistic top CB target. Our CB's need more competition and even though Badstuber is coming back its ideal to have four CB's so that it finally frees up Martinez to play in midfield rather than having him counted as part of our CB group.

Looks like a purchase war over this player. I think Bayern wins out, as we have the CL, and hopefuly Roma doesn't just go by money -- as Bayern will back out when the price doesn't make sense, yet we all know ManU will pay whatever and go into debt further if need be.
