Good to see this rumour is still alive. Hopefully it's more than just that.

What's his price? 40 might be too much, because he has no CL experience.

AS Roma purchased Benatia for 13.500.000 and right now his worth is 18.000.000,I think that Roma will accept a 25.000.000 bid or so,well from what I've seen and heard about Benatia this year I'm positive for a transfer to us!

30-40m for Benatia???
It's a ridiculous amount, don't know if football market surpassed me and I didn't realize it or the words 40m for Benatia is from a joke calendar,in general all these ridiculous price tags of modern football are driving me crazy, players without much CL experience,no domestic-competitive silverware not even individual trophies worthing so damn much,it's pathetic.

We did that With Javi Martinez and we won the treble :)

The circumstances were very different with Javi's purchase though, he was coming in to be a major component in the system, I don't know if Benatia would be that type of player. He may have the skills but cheaper and maybe better alternatives are available in my opinion.

I have not seen much of Benatia, although I have heard nothing but good things about him. I would tend to agree with Achilles that 40 million is a ridiculous amount for a player with no CL experience and a CB (nothing against CBs, but they tend to be cheaper). However, if he really is as good as people say, I'd say so be it if that's what it takes to bring him here. We do not need to buy anyone in any other position unless someone leaves. 40 million spent in a transfer season is not a lot, even if it is on just one player.

Yes 40 mill. is a ridiculous amount for any player. But we have to live with the fact that, that's the pricing in top football nowadays. If we wan't to stay in this tier of football we have to splash the cash to compete with our rivals. 40 million is a lot, but still peanuts compared to what other clubs are willing to spend.

That is true unfortunately, until we have P$G, Man €ity & €elsea around and no proper FFP everything is going to remain the same.

Mehdi Benatia [Mehdi Amine El Mouttaqi Benatia]

Postby Firefox1234 » Tue Apr 08, 2014 12:06 am

Granted i have not seen much of this player there is no way Bayern dish out €40m for him. Javi's case like i said before was special, he had a release clause but that didnt reflect his true value. If Bayern are prepared to spend €40m for a CB i hope they are looking at better options in the transfer market. Even KHR said it himself that he doesnt expect Bayern to be spending that kind of money on one player again. For this guy anywhere between €15m - €25m max, i just dont see him being worth anymore than that.

Javi's deal had some arrangements regarding wages that then would make the transfer bill smaller for Bayern IIRC

I think 30-35 million would be enough to lure Benatia away from Eternal City. From what I have seen, very good defender. Looks better than Dante/Boateng. We have to realise that quality costs. I would rather pay 30-35 for Benatia than the same amount for David Luiz. I doubt we can get him for cheaper as As Roma will play in CL next season. They simply haven't got any incentive to let one of their best players go cheap. Let's not forget that according latest rumours both Manchester clubs, PSG and Barcelona are after him as well. So things will not be easy for us.
