We won't because it's simply impossible. Why? We saw on Rensing and Kraft example. Too much pressure and no patience to wait young GK to get experience and then to become a no. 1 or he simply can't handle the pressure or he ain't that great talent.

Our ambitions and season expectations can't give those guys time. We want immediate effect and youngesters deserve patience, opportunity sometimes to make mistakes, learn from them, etc.

Neuer have had that opportunity at S04 and the pressure can't be measurable to this one in Munich. That's why we can't develop our young GKs. Stefan Wessels, Michael Rensing, Thomas Kraft... All of them were named as succeessors of Kahn, but neither of them didn't have a great career at Bayern nor somewhere else.

Looks like Sepp Maier will be the unique GK product of FCB.

I agree with FCB General, Bayern has a legacy of excellent goalkeepers, be it Sepp Maier, Jean-Marie Pfaff, Oliver Kahn and Manuel Neuer. The likes of Rensing, Raeder and Zingerle will forever be measured against those, and they probably will never be able to compete. Among the top clubs, however, only Casillas and Valdes are club-produced keepers, and they've both had a hellish past year.

I'd argue that Kraft and Rensing were both quite good products for a position 10 times less likely to develop a world class player. Not a lot of academies produce two mid-table no1 goalkeepers in such a short amount of time.

However, both had some pretty horrible mistakes as well. I recall Kraft was beaten by two ridiculous goals in the two games that got LVG sacked. Rensing lost the confidence of two different coaching staffs in five months. Clearly, they had mental burdens.

Sure Kraft made mistakes but his goalkeeping performances were good and promising for the most part. He's a talented goalkeeper.

The major problem with Kraft was his footballing ability. If I recall correctly he had huge issues with being pressed by the opposing strikers which lead to some ridiculous situations where our CB's dropped to the corners to provide him with passing options...

About Riedmüller:

He got no UCL medal because only players who were at least once on the bench or the field in the uefa CL season get those. Riedmüller was registered for the competition but for obvious reasons Tom Starke was our reserve keeper.

Thank you for the clarification. Looking back, I do recall he wasn't given a medal.

I think Raeder is quite talented but he will leave Bayern long before Neuer does. We don't really have to be concerned if we don't have talented GKs at the moment. We need them to show up in 10 years or so.

There won't be any kind of Bayern product between the posts except he moves on loan to other club to get experienced.

Big clubs can't develop their own GKs because there is no time to wait them. Casillas and Valdes are exceptions, one of the very few GKs in the modern game that they've got that chance to become no. 1 of their clubs. All other elite clubs in Europe bought formed GKs with proven quality and experience.

Blue bib = Riedmüller. Saw him at Holstein Kiel vs Erfurt last weekend (third league). He played well, needs to improve his goalkicks though. Erfurt won 2:1, but neither of the goals was Riedmüller's fault
