I don't really care about that. If it is really as bad I hope that Bayern offer every form of support available.

This is sad. I hope the medical team that is overseeing his treatment can cure him or give him a treatment that can improve his situation.

Honestly in all seriousness, if it goes wrong and he retires very early, Dortmund or Bayern should offer him a job as a media ambassador or something of the sort. He is a master at it, has the WC winning scorer pedigree, and he would maintain an excellent public image for himself. Hope it goes well for him in the future, this is so unfair to happen to supremely talented footballers.

Couldn't agree more. I hope we stay true to our past of supporting former players in difficulty, even if this one never gave us much and left us to rejoin our rivals.

Depends on etiology , some of them are reversible to some extent with treatment of cause ( thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal ,drugs ,meds ,even para neoplastic syndromes ). congenital and hereditary ones have poor prognosis.

isnt his dad a physician ?

hope he recovers

Yes, "Myopathy" is a pretty vague and non-specific diagnosis. Myopathy quite literally means a disease of the muscle. So to call it "rare and severe" is kinda sensationalist as we don't know what the cause of it is yet nor has any received an official diagnosis at all (to my knowledge). Depending on the cause it could be serious or it may not be. Anyways some forms are pretty common and can be treated thru surgery, hormone therapy, or even tissue massage...others are more rare and more difficult to treat but with modern medicine are rarely life-threatening nowadays.
But, of course, the rigors put on the body of professional athletes are much more than that of us average joes. While it's very likely he'll be able to recover well enough to live a "normal" life, it may be somewhat less likely that he'll get back to playing at a professional, top tier level. But again that's all just speculation at this point, it could be relatively minor in the big scheme of things.

Well, we all know that something is going wrong with him, especially this season.
Speedy recovery, Mario.

Really sad news.

Unfortunately this disease is very serious, especially in young age.
