TZ| Under Ancelotti, Neuer is expected to have a bigger 'shot stopping' role than the 'Libero' role he had under Pep.

^ That's not all.

Carlo knows that he has a world class GK in Neuer who is equally capable with his hands as his feet and will let him take responsibility. [TZ]

This is what Neuer said:

Neuer has been impressed by Carlo Ancelotti's management style since he succeeded Pep Guardiola as Bayern coach.

"Basically he already gives us more freedom," he said. "He knows that we have world-class players in our ranks, he can trust us and it shows.

"He is very relaxed around us and knows, of course, that we have different characters and so deals differently with each of us."

Possible changes on his goalkeeping by Carlo Ancelotti, Neuer: "Specifically, I can not name any differences."

"My game depends on how high our defensive line is, because I am guided."

"We have not shown our best and most dominant game against Dortmund."

I trust Neuer's decision making on whether to stay in his position or to go out of the penalty area more than any coach's, be it Ancelotti, Pep, or anyone else.

High line defense, more action from Neuer.
Decreased possesion, playing more deeply, less action from Neuer.

Simple as that, depends on the situation and the approach of the game, sweeper-keeper will always be one of Neuer's actions, the frequency though depends on the team. There is absolutely no need to talk to Neuer for his game and his approach, tactically he has the higher football IQ along with Lahm in my eyes, his reading on the game is at the top. Our defenders must improve their game and concetration and Neuer will come up when he is needed as always. Last year was Neuer's poorest season in terms of 1v1 situations I expected some "game winning" saves.
Still though he was once again world class!

Yes, it's that simple.

If we're in need of a goal, we'll play a higher defence line and Neuer will be 'roaming' around more.
If we're protecting a result, we'll probably play a deeper defence than we've ever played under Guardiola.

It's when Neuer controls the ball instead of kicking the ball up the field when there are opponents 5 meters away. But I think he is doing this less now.

Re: Manuel Neuer

Postby DRvad14 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 2:47 pm

Neuer told the DFB website: "It's a huge honour for me and it fills me with pride. We all know, though, that we need numerous leading players on the field if we want to be successful."Of course I know that the role of captain has a great symbolic significance and I'm delighted with the faith that the national team coach has placed in me by naming me his captain.
Low said: "We are in a lucky situation of having numerous leading figures who have what it takes to be captain. For me, Manuel Neuer is the logical successor to Bastian Schweinsteiger. He has everything that I could wish for from a leading player."His performances are exceptional and Manuel is always there for the team. He's a team player and an absolute role model. He also has great human qualities. He takes on responsibility, leads the way while remaining cool and relaxed."He's highly regarded within the team while his word carries weight. While the responsibility will continue to be shared across many shoulders, I expect and I know that the leading players will work for the team, on and off the field.""

Great choice. I am happy Neuer was selected. I would have possibly been ok with any of the other choices, though I can't believe Kroos was even one of them.
