Sucks that he blemished the best save I've ever seen by pulling a Ter Stegen in the second half.

I'm a fan of calling it "pulling a ter Stegen". Sorry noticed that a month late.

Who apart from Kahn? He overtook Maier a few weeks ago.

Actually there are four keepers ahead of Neuer:

Oliver Kahn (557 matches/204 clean sheets)
Oliver Reck (471/176)
Eike Immel (534/148)
Uli Stein (512/146)

Neuer's stats (299/142) are impressive. =D>

Yes, they are really impressive.

But it also says something generally about quality of football in the last 6-7 years.

As for Neuer, it doesn't change anything regarding his GK qualities which were developed and proven at Schalke in period 2006-2011.

True. For most of Kahn's career we were a very average team compared to others in Europe. Neuer has never been eliminated before the semi-final in the CL with Bayern (and reached it with Schalke too).

However, if he keeps averaging the same amount of clean sheets, he will equal Kahn with less games.

If I'm not mistaken, this is only for Bundesliga matches since the source is bundesliga.de. The league during the 90's was far more competitive and hard to win comparing to period after the season 2001/2002 when we started to run far away from the rest of the league, especially in the views of financial power and squad quality where others couldn't catch up with us in the long term.
Seasons 2002/2003, 2005/2006 and 2007/2008 were really outstanding for Bayern in the German competitions and it was a pure domination from the start line to the end line while the last 3-4 seasons(despite we lost everything in 2011/2012) are story for itself regarding points and goal difference, clean sheet, etc.

Neuer brought a lot to Bayern with his transfer, stabilized the defense, he coordinates everything, giving confidence, calmness and safety to the lads in front of him and that's a huge credit and exactly what we needed and what we looked after Kahn's retirement.

Yeah it's about the Bundesliga, but our performance in Europe puts things into perspective. When we're among the best in the world, you simply have to expect us to do better in the league as well.
