2.51 matches to be exact. As I wrote here, he has 226 Bundesliga minutes left to equal the record set by Hildebrand in 2003.

How far away is he from the European record, assuming there is one recorded?

Silly question but I will assume this does NOT count NT games, right? If so, Neuer is about what? 4 games away. Given the fact that that neither Berlin or Nürnberg at home nor Inglostat at a neutral venue are a bigger threat than Napoli at Naples, our clean sheet record has a name and time. Edinson Cavani on Tuesday the 18th. If we make it by then, we have a clear chance of beating this thing.

Of course not, NT is an entirely different team (despite having 8 Bayern players in it :D).

Yes. Napoli will be the main threat and I do not think we will manage a clean sheet against them. The rest are quite manageable, though surprises should never be excluded.

I believe there was a goalkeeper in the Belgian league who exceeded van der Sar's record.

Found... the record is of Belgian goalkeeper Dany Verlinden who played for Club Brugge, who remained unbeaten for 1,390 minutes.

Also, Marios Praxitelous had 1220 mins unbeaten for Omonia Nicosia.

So the updated table:

1. Dany Verlinden ... 1390 minutes
2. Edwin van der Sar ... 1311 minutes
3. Abel Resino Gomez ... 1275 minutes
4. Marios Praxitelous ... 1220 minutes
5. Vitor Baia ... 1191 minutes
6. Petr Cech ... 1025 minutes
7. Manuel Neuer ... 1018 minutes

I'm sure there must be a few others between Dany Verlinden and Manuel Neuer.

Interestingly, the World record is of Matos Filho Mazarópi at Vasco da Gama, unbeaten for 1816 minutes between 1977 and 1978.

They should have a list speccially for the strongest 5 leagues in the world.
who gives a damn if a tanzanian GK keeps a clean sheet for 100 games.

Well, a clean sheet record is a clean sheet record, regardless where the originate country/league (like a guinness record). A tanzanian GK would have tanzanian defenders in front of him to protect him, so his job might be more difficult than a GK with great defenders (and a great defensive system) in front of him :)

Anyway, to have a clean sheet for 1816 minutes (20.1 games) in Brazilian league (where you have some great attackers / talents) is something very remarkable...

BTW the full list of the World's 463 Top Division Goalkeepers of all time with the longest Time without conceding a Goal is in the following link:

Wow... Neuer would be in like 46th position in that list..
If he makes a clean sheet against Hertha, he would move to 25th spot with 1108 minutes..
