Welcome to FC Bayern Munchen, Luiz!

Our new player will wear the number 30. Any ideas why?

His ball-winning ability is exceptional. Best in the Bundesliga in my opinion, one of the best around Europe. His advantage in that area can obviously not fully be realized at left-back, which is the position he’ll probably start appearing at, but I’m convinced he’ll still be a significant upgrade to what we’ve seen in the first part of the season in that position.

As for the number, I would have preferred #6. But I heard it wasn't available due to some UEFA regulations, since Micho wore it earlier this season. Doesn't make much of a difference anyway, he can wear #99 as long as he plays well.

Well , it seems that Gustavo will be our LB

LvG said " We Have signed Luiz Gustavo who is gonig to Stabilize our Defense ,and he obviously is good in that ,in the offensive part we are good enough"

MrLinky wrote:His ball-winning ability is exceptional. Best in the Bundesliga in my opinion, one of the best around Europe. His advantage in that area can obviously not fully be realized at left-back,

Previously , he used to commit many fouls to show this ball-winning ability , now he is better in that

And i think that as LB , he could be very useful

he played LB more than CDM in his young career (even with hoffenheim he played some games as LB)

He is tall (187cm , Sagnol cant complain  ) yet super fast

He also can Switch from offense to defense and Vice Versa perfectly (like Ze Roberto)

and like you said , his ball winning is good

you need a guy like that to guard some wingers , Like Cristiano Ronaldo , Ronaldo is fast , Brilliant , and also tall , a 170cm Defender wont be that effective

So Theoretically , and on FIFA 2011  , he solves The LB problem and is a huge improve

practically , we will have to wait few weeks

I pray that he turns out to Be A Great LB

so we can finally close that gap without paying additional Money

and Tymoschuk remains on the field

I think (Not sure) that the reason is that in our Champions league squad , we have registered Demichelis as number 6

so if we Give Luiz Gustavo the 6 , he wotn be able to play in the CL this season

Playing him as a LB is a waste

He'd be good there, but it would be wasting a talent like Contento if you ask me.

And I still believe he's better in midfield.

He seems a little weak.
If he does want to end up playing midfield I think buffing up could definitely do him good.

Number 30 is because of Micho. Fans can buy his shirts till end of this season.

Gustavo decided to take 30, who cares... He could take a number 36, 66, 77, 99, 80, 20... It doesn't matter why he took that number for trikot.

LvG dont like that players have high numbers (dont know why he let Tymo have 44)

Did not know this. I wonder what he'd have felt if he was Bayern coach a few years ago when Lizarazu wanted to (and did) play with #69

Re: Luiz Gustavo

Postby appudds » Tue Jan 04, 2011 4:40 pm

Just as Luiz Gustavo begins to make himself acquainted with life at Bayern Munich, the German Football League (DFL) has launched a probe to investigate a potential breach of ethics in his transfer from Hoffenheim.

"The DFL stands on this matter in contact with the management of 1899 Hoffenheim. The management has promised us to document the progress of the transfer accordingly," read a letter from the DFL.

The suspected breach concerns the role played by Hoffenheim principal owner and sponsor Dietmar Hopp. In compliance with the '50+1' rule, Hopp does not own a majority share of the Sinsheim club, and thus could not unilaterally approve of a transfer.

Both Bayern and Hoffenheim have publicly revealed that Hopp's compliance was a critical factor in the deal. Notably, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "Our thanks again to Hoffenheim's sponsor Dietmar Hopp, who allowed the transfer in this form."

Hopp has come under intense scrutiny for his push to complete the deal with Bayern. While official statements have yet to be released, it is speculated that coach Ralf Rangnick's departure was due to a disagreement over the transfer of Luiz Gustavo, who was one of Hoffenheim's best players of the fall campaign

Nerlinger said about Gustavo " His Best Position is the 6 , but he managed to impress us in three positions , LB CB and Central Midfield"

appudds wrote:Hopp does not own a majority share of the Sinsheim club

@ Appudds , there are some mistakes in your article

Hopp Owns 99% of Hoffenheim , But it is the NUMBER OF VOTES that are not sufficient because he only has 49% of the total votes because of the Statute

also , another problem is that Hopp is the owner of the club , but has no official position in the Club ,so he is not allowed to do any executive deal

But the DFL itself does not beleive that there will be consequences , because even though the Thing is obvious , there is no way to prove it on Court

Especially that Hopp has a representative in the club , the Manager Ernst Tanner

Tymoschuk was introduced here before LvG officially took over if i remember correctly

That's not something that concerns us or that we can face consequences for. Hoffenheim are the ones who potentially violated the 50+1 rule. But Hopp has his "followers" within the club's structure, who can claim that they were in charge of the negotiations and the signing of the deal and nothing happens. That's how you easily go round a strict DFL regulation.
