To be honest he was good at LB and even better as a CB, but it is obvious that he is a much better defensive midfielder. Still, it's good to have versatile players, just in case.

He is the only Brazilian in the Bundesliga who was nominated for Brazil's National Team against Costa Rica and Mexico in early October.

Looks like he's quickly becoming a permanent member of the Brazil squad. I hope he starts getting some serious minutes soon :)

He's played a few minutes against Germany so far, possibly just to keep Germany from poaching him. Let's not get too carried away now :) I think he has the abilities to become one, but he's FAAAAR from becoming a permanent member yet.

Well, he's not getting any minutes yet but he's at least getting called up. :) When he got his first call I thought it was just because they were playing Germany.

He should walk into that NT where people like Ganso are overhyped to the mean.

AS a DM he is much better than Ramires,ELano or Sandro or Lucas whoever they play. Gustavo is a beast as a DM & with so agressive full-backs like Marcelo-Alves they need him.

Gustavo was in the starting line-up but was substituted in the second half.

Goal.com gave him a rating of 6.5, which was the second highest rating that a Brazil player received in that match.

Traditionally the Brazilian National Team has a huge amount of offensive quality and a lot of these players lack the attitude to make the dirty defensive work properly so someone like Gustavo is definitely needed. While Josué got to old, Melo proved to be unreliable (poor WC 2010 performances) and Lucas / Ramires are to offensive minded for the job, Gustavo has the chance to use this gap and play a major role in the Selecao. Though I don't like the lengthened regeneration times from all the flying to South America I wish Gustavo the best because it most certainly has a positive impact on his confidence.

Gustavo is better than Tymo IMO and he deserves more playing time ...

Yes, Luiz Gustavo shows once again what kind of player he is and which qualities he possesses. 8)

In last few months I read just bad words for him, but nobody remembers what was he a year ago in period same as now. 1st half of season Tymoshchuk was in front of him, better preformances, form, everything. But after start of the 2nd half, he is demonstrating very good form, specially last 2 games(Vfb and FCK).

Nice to read this praises. =D>
