It's probably true, but it might also be a tactic to get a better wage offer.

it tells us under the prerequisite the kicker is right, that Bayern is considered as a serious alternative by him. We'll see if he decides that the "Milan north of the Alps" is going to be his new home

Are kicker generally reliable? I know that they often carry news before anyone else, but do they sometimes make up stuff?

Mostly, they also write crap sometimes but usually they are a bit better than the rest. Nonetheless Bild is writing the same and they have some more details. Toni was in Munich last saturday negotiating with Uli and Kalle and a three years contract is already worked out, he only needs to sign it. He was also watching several estates in Munich and later on he was having diner

If all this is true, then Toni must be very seriously interested, else he wouldn't have gone through all this.

Bayern Munich have made Italy striker Luca Toni a target as the German champions attempt to strengthen their side for next season, the mass-circulation Bild newspaper reported Friday.

According to the report, quoting club sources, a three-year contract has already been negotiated and merely needs Toni's signature.

The 29-year-old Fiorentina striker was in Munich last weekend when he also dined at an Italian restaurant favoured by Bayern players, the report said.

Toni, who scored both goals in Italy's 2-0 defeat of Scotland in a Euro 2008 qualifier in Bari on Wednesday, has a contract with Fiorentina until 2009 and would cost around 20 million euros (26.6 million dollars), the report said.

However, Europe's top scorer last season with 31 goals is also reportedly wanted by Italian clubs Juventus and AC Milan.

Bayern are set to invest heavily in the transfer market and have been linked with a number of top players, including Werder Bremen's Miroslav Klose, Chelsea's Arjen Robben and Borussia Moenchengladbach's Marcell Jansen.

Bayern have already signed three players for the new season, Jan Schlaudraff from Alemannia Aachen, Hamit Altintop from Schalke 04 and Jose Ernesto Sosa from Estudiantes de la Plata.

Bayern Munich supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has declared their interest in Fiorentina striker Luca Toni.

Former Inter Milan star Rummenigge told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Toni appeals a lot to me, I think he is very useful and could do very well with Bayern.

"Sure, they want a lot for him and this complicates the operation. But in the end it's the player who decides and he may even want to try an experience abroad.

"It's not the time to talk about our transfer plans, but the centre-forward does attract us."

The Italian media have quoted Rummenigge saying something like this (sorry, I'm not the best translator in the world...):

"In my opinion, Toni would strengthen any team, and we are ready to wait. The opposition of Juventus? We have a much more beautiful stadium, Munich is a very nice city, definitely more than Torino and above all we'll play in the Champions League."

According to Bild, Toni has said no to Bayern, who have now turned their attention to Klose... but we face stiff competition from Barcelona and Juventus

According to the Italian press, there is still some chance for Toni, saying there was an "acceleration" in the negotiations and apparently Bayern officials met up with his agents yesterday.

The problem is that Arsenal and Chelsea are also showing interest.

Luca Toni is allegedly a Bayern Munich player. The Fiorentina striker has accepted the German club’s offer to sign a five-year contract. The past summer, Fiorentina president Della Valle had agreed to let Toni (who wanted to join Inter) leave at the end of this season for a pre-determined sum. This meant Toni was basically free to choose his destination, as long as the club making the offer was willing to give Fiorentina that amount of money.

Among the reasons for the player’s decision, as well as the financial factor, is also Toni’s wish to not ‘betray’ Fiorentina by playing for another Italian team.
