How yes no... Once you're baptized in Catholic Church, you remain Catholic for the rest of your life. Sacraments cannot be revoked. Those who say I'm not this or that, yes they are, but it's free will to say whatever you want and live completely opposite life.

So, people in Germany are Catholic even though they won't declare themselves Catholics because they don't want to give their money to STATE and not the Church.

That's what I dislike the most in Germany. Who is the state to decide how much of individual's income will go to Catholic Church?

Some idiots in my country try to push this, but that doesn't mean I will be able to reject to give a cent for NGOs, right?

How yes no... How yes fúcking no.

What's the best from what I've heard(doesn't mean it's correct), Protestants, Muslims and Jews don't pay Church tax.

Taxes are legal robbery. There are few taxes you must pay every year and that's it. But when I buy a flat or a house, I pay it once and no more. In some countries you pay it every single year. Or even car or something else.

Does it mean that someone will decide one day that I'll have to pay every year my sink in the bathroom?

Taxes are the easiest way to transform your own country in the deadly enemy.

p.s. What German goverment did to own people with removing Deutsch Mark is unforgivable, at least to me.

No, if you choose not to pay the tax the church refuses to perform the services for you. Which I guess is fair, can't have freeloaders. Just strange that the state organizes the tax for the church.

Yeah not true. I know at least Protestants and Jews do. Muslim communities probably organize it themselves.

I've checked out reading some articles and all must pay.

Just take a look how it goes in my country. What our first president did during the war and 90's after Yugoslavia, you probably can't find nowhere around the world. :D .

But I guess 8% is way too much for the people in Germany.

Exactly... but this wasn't something I had to worry about anyway, as I opted out as soon as I started to be taxed

My fiances father pays the tax, and his rationale to me was that he sees it an investment of sorts - keeping the old churches in good condition. I suppose one could also argue that the church doesn't need to tax people for that reason, but i suppose it makes sense in a way.... still too expensive for me though

Find me a quote in the Bible or Catechism where Jesus or John the Baptist took gold, shekels or something else as gift for baptizing, communion, chrism/confirmation. :D
In my parish, the priest rejected to be paid from state's side. He lives from what he gets during the mass, parishioner's donations and that's it. There are probably some priests who use both sources for their private purposes and that's also outrageous.

I don't know... I don't think it's about infrastructure as much as it's about something similar to FED. After all, public opinion is created by secular media, fag lobby, Monsanto and similar corporations, politicians who on one side cross themselves and saying they are believers while on the other side legalize abortions, homo marriages, support homo propaganda, etc.

I find these days those so called "conservative" politicians pure liars. Even some of those Latin American socialist presidents who declared themselves Catholics go against the teaching of the Church.

It's a one big mess. Some priests and bishops aren't doing what their mission is and no wonder why some believers are disappointed, criticize them and their greed, malpractice, etc. No wonder why reform of Curia is very, very complex and long process even for a position of Pope.

I am afraid that it has been like this for centuries...where humans are involved there will always be corruption, greed for power, money, etc

Probably best to avoid that kind of talk in a public forum...
