He gave the chance to Alaba Badstuber
Contento
Kraft
Mueller...

His downfalls were Lucio Braafhaid and Toni...

More than that, his downfalls were refusing transfers

You're so right. He didn't fill the holes in our first 11 while he also forgot to strengthen our bench with quality. He is a stubborn man and his individual relations with players are poor. He had his favorite players while one Ribery for instance lost 2 years under him.

Here he is saying that he did not retire but is going to have a break for a year, he might then decide to stop especially if he does not receive an attractive offer. He also said that he refused an offer from China. [source]

Heynckes has a much higher percentage.

But Heynckes didn't make 50 games at the bench.

Yes but that "50 games" sounds arbitrarily chosen with the intention to exclude him.

With only 3 participations in the UCL, it seems legitimate to exclude him.

With 3 CL final appearances it seems a travesty to exclude him.

Something tells me nobody sat down and said "let's determine the coaches with highest UCL winning percentage....But be sure and pick a minimum number that will require we exclude Heynckes!"
50 matches is roughly 4-5 tournaments worth, depending on how far a team makes it.
Surely you must pick a minimum number of appearances at some point, no?
Otherwise one could easily say something silly like "Zidane won 71% of his UCL matches and won the tournament in his first year as a coach, therefore best UCL coach ever"

Well, if it was me doing the statistics, that's EXACTLY how I would do it. I would get the full list first, then decide which ones don't make sense in the list in order to raise the minimum appearances to exclude any coaches that are only in the list because there is too little data for them.

Anyway, it seems that not even their data is correct. According to an article by UEFA not too long ago, Heynckes has 41 wins from 59 games, 69.5% win ratio, far higher than Louis'. I think it may include data from the old European Cup, however, because let's face it, if you were to only take CL matches under consideration then Heynckes has an even higher win percentage. He's clearly head and shoulders above the competition and yet the statistic is tweaked just enough to exclude him.
