Paulo Dybala, Ousmane Dembele, Kingsley Coman and Saul Niguez have been voted Goal's Young Player of the Year in their respective leagues.
[...]
There was no shock in the Bundesliga poll as Coman's superb season at Bayern Munich earned him almost half of all votes cast.

The 19-year-old has contributed four goals from the wing in the league and another two in the Champions League and placed ahead of Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Julian Weigl.

Borussia Monchengladbach prospect Mahmoud Dahoud came in third place and Julian Brandt, Jonathan Tah and Timo Horn completed the shortlist [source]

That's surprising. I find Mahmoud Dahoud and Joshua Kimmich more impressive.

I'm very surprised Kimmich didn't place, in fact.

Coman had so many opportunities this match in such limited time and failed in everyone of them.

Don't overrate our young players

You cannot blame him though. He's inexperienced at this level and was introduced to be a game changer. He did his best. We had no option, though, as Costa wasn't in good shape as well tonight. God I miss Robben.

**** me, one of your first instincts after one of the most devastating Bayern losses since 2012 is to go on his player thread and post this? Even if he didn't do worse than our other forwards, after Costa was being invisible?

This CL season was great experience for him, though. If the club isn't gonna go out and buy the 100m players, then we'll have to live with the development of younger guys. Coman will be a great player for this club.

Coman got overrated really fast this season.

Reminds me of Sterling's rise in England. Don't get me wrong, Coman is a good player, but he is still very very raw. Hence, why he was overlooked quite a bit in PSG and Juventus. At Bayern, he had Pep and our injury plagued RObbery.

You got a good point. May be the same happened with costa. I guess ribery and robben are one in a million. The important thing is that coman has the potential to become like one of them.

I don't know about this guy.. He is such an easy winger to read, always tries to push the ball to the right to then deliver the most failed cross ever.. I think I've complained about him not being able to do any skills before aswell..

FFS the kid did his best. I don't think there are many 19 year olds that deliver on the biggest stage of the CL. Give him some time to develop and refine his skills.

The problem is that yest was the wrong night to put him in.
Pep made a wrong and risky choice.
He should have gone for experience. Goetze even if he is in a bad form... so was he in the WC...
He played last in the GrS vs the US.
The rest is history.
I too believe that Coman has a bright future but yest he failed every touch...it was too much for him

It was a choice that must have been made. Costa was always drifting to the middle, leaving Atletico's left side of their defensive zone empty. Coman was introduced to fill that space, and he did so by being in the right position to receive a ball on many occassions. Even though his end product failed him, that was a correct tactical substitution.

You can't blame him too much, he's still 19 years old. He still got in more dangerous positions than Costa did all night.
