Shaqiri is a very sobering lesson when looking at Comans development, but in Coman's defense you can tell he is not trying to do too much like Shaqiri but just enough individual skill to help the team. Shaqiri already had a killer left foot and I felt he got to big headed for it while Coman is still growing into that confidence and not letting it overwhelm him.

Never was much of a fan of Shaqiri TBH. Don't know why exactly.

Maybe I have a weakness for French players (Ribery, Zidane, Benzema, et al).

surely he is better than Usami. Bye the way what's up with him?
I remember I had high hopes for him.

In all fairness - I have never seen Shaqiri cutting through opposing defenses like a hot knife does through butter :D
Someone, fire that Italian **** already! I don't care who, I don't care how much it costs or who'll be the next coach - just make sure he's gone and he stays gone!!!

While in terms of age and position they are similar, I think that comparing Shaq to Coman is unfair to the Frenchman.

Shaqiri thrived in his first year in counterattacking situations in non-crucial games when he had a lot of space. From what I saw of him under Pep (and I paid a lot of attention to him) he couldn't really do much to break down a defense that was parking the bus, unlike Coman, who I think is more talented and has already shown the required speed and technical quality to make plays in tight spaces.

Nevertheless, patience is definitely required.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one. Those are my exact thoughts about both Shaqiri and Coman.

We had paid only 10M for Shaq and he was more experienced than Coman in the same age... for Coman we'll pay 30M if we get him. If we insert Benatia in the deal that would make him a 40M transfer, because we paid 30M for Benatia but he's nowadays worth like 20-25M as an injury-prone player. :P

And because our board cannot be asked to sell a player on their market value to save their lives.
