Jupp said, 17/18 squad might be better than the 12/13 ones, but the other teams are also better.

@MUTU: Fair enough if you see it that way. However, I was talking about the squad, irrespective of who is actually fit right now. I'm not sure what Jupp meant, but probably he was talking in general too.

Given the context surrounding Jupp's answer, I have to think he was referring to the overall talent level, not necessarily squad health, form, etc. On pure quality of players alone I think there's a strong argument for that. Based on form/health/accomplishments? No way, 12/13 any day of the week. But purely on player quality? Not so sure. I think you're right in saying that Jupp was speaking in a very general sense (rather than "if the CL final was played today" or comparing player to player or bench to bench or whatever)

So please only in passing you can say Schweinsteiger was better in some aspects. This overhyping homegrown players and getting at the back of those we have acquired is something I can't tolerate.

Better defensively? Is this joke?
Buddy the DM position is not who hits harder or flying tackles that's 80's English football, Alonso was a DM also at his prime, Redondo too. The art of defending is the reading game skills which Schweinsteiger master it through the years and under LvG. I have doubts if Vidal can read a letter perfectly let alone a tactic. He is a ferocious defender and athletic but please he is off guard and out of position in one game that Schweini was once in a month. Goal Threat? Yes but not a better scorer, the fact that Schweini played more deep doesn't mean that he couldn't score at ease.
There is absolutely no comparison overall between them two and it has nothing to do being a homegrown, I love warriors like Vidal but he is not Schweini maybe at his 2 first years at Turin he reached that level.

Do we need to talk about leadership skills and commanding the midfield ? I suppose no...

I don't even get why people continuously compare Schweinsteiger and Vidal as Thiago is actually our closest player to Schweinsteiger in many ways(distribution, tackling, ability to dribble, goalscoring threat from delayed runs, ability to act like a quasi-regista, etc.)

I can't believe ramsej84 thanked a post which starts with "Buddy the DM position is not who hits harder or flying tackles that's 80's English football" :P

Heycknes’s return has been so delightful for all of the fans. Its like a dream that I don’t want to wake up from! That terrible playing style and disastrous pre-season under Ancelloti seem like a distant memory now. Jupp waved his magic wand and our season turned on its head. It looked like we would go trophy less but Jupp changed everything. Regardless of whether or not Bayern win the Triple this season, Jupp has proved himself to be a legend. From being under threat of not winning anything to doing the Domestic Double would be a terrific turnaround and an incredible achievement.

I don’t want this to end and hope against hope that Jupp will be at Bayern next season as well but at the same time I will (perhaps reluctantly) accept whatever decision Jupp makes in May. The final word will be that of Jupp’s.

He simply fits to Bayern, especially in this decade but his age is something that dictates his present and future.

Jupp Heynckes: "I took over because Bayern were in a difficult situation and weren't able to hire a coach they had faith in at such short notice. I said I would do it until the end of the season. That was the agreement, and I'm sticking to it.I'll be 73 in the summer and you never know how much time you have left. It was never my plan to coach again. There's more to life than work." If only Wenger knew that but then again Wenger has a non-existent personal life outside football.

I love Jupp... I think that’s no secret... But we‘re not doing justice and/or giving enough credit to a certain Ottmar Hitzfeld!!
